Quite petty I know, but how awful is the music played at Oakwell before the game and at half time?! A football ground is essentially a gathering of middle-aged men, yet week after week we are subjected to One Direction, Justin Bieber and other chart ***** blaring out as though it's a nine year-old girl's birthday party.

I know music is the most subjective of things, but it would be nice to hear something the majority of the stands will enjoy and sing along to, something to warm up voices ready to belt chants out!

I can regrettably say that I have. That 'BABY OOOH' one as well, nearly went home in a sulk.

They could possibly play a demo from a local band each week.

It's not so much the music as how loud it is....often you can't hear the person next to you talking.

And same goes for music after we score, I'd rather hear the cheer of the crowd

Attracting the next generation of fans I suppose?

I couldn't care less what music they play or any of this 'match day experience'. I can keep myself occupied for 15 minutes before the match and 15 minutes during half time.

It might be good to watch some past goals on a new scoreboard but it wouldn't have any effect on whether or not I turned up.

I don't think for a minute something like this puts people off coming to Oakwell, but the atmosphere in the stands before the game contributes to the atmosphere during the game in my opinion. If people enjoy being around the ground, they are more likely to be vocal when the match kicks off.

If they could turn it down so it doesn't make your ears bleed.

    That'd be ace.

You've got to play music the young end like really, wants turning up a notch though, can barely hear the music unless its the cringeworthy fat boy slim remixed entrance stuff

Stone Roses, The Jam, The Who, Marley, White Stripes, all got played regularly last season. I would like no music when we score though, the atmosphere doesn't need any help at that point.

That's the sort of thing I'm talking about, especially now that we've latched onto Three Little Birds and Seven Nation Army as chants, can really get the crowd going before the match.

Agree about music when a goal's scored too.

Owt upbeat does me at Oakwell...chart stuff, 90's dance music...anything else, or traditional "band" type music, sounds a bit depressing over the limited PA system.

Isn't chart *****, by very definition the most popular music of that week? If the club is playing the most popular music of that week then surely they are playing the right stuff?

I think the main problem is the volume, in the ponty end people can barely hear it and in the east stand it is absolutely deafening (maybe they turn it up there to compensate for the lack of volume in the ponty?). Somebody needs to get their arses into the stands and listen to it from as many different places as they can to adjust the volume levels going to each speaker.

What I particularly don't understand is sometimes it will be playing along at a perfectly fine volume when suddenly somebody will randomly turn it up about to twice the volume. If it was fine at 12 minutes to 3, why did it need increasing at 11 minutes to?

The guy who reads the car number plates over the tannoy at Oakwell (when the games on). Imagine being on a plane journey and him coming on the tannoy "hello, hello, this is a message, a message". I'd **** myself if that's what the pilot sounded like.
