Isnt it another term to describe dwarfism which is a disability.

Maybe the club should produce a list of words that are allowed to be used when a player is having a bad game or is just rubbish - baffled as why saying a player should man up is a problem

Could you imagine Stewart Downing on the ball trying incredible skills and then gives it away. Then someone shouts "You fairy" and gets chucked out the ground. Jesus christ

I was hoping it was some sort of joke article. Sadly not as Liverpool turn more into North Korea with the censorship of their people.

Also, if your friend chooses to tell you at a football match that he is homosexual, you could get thrown out for remarking "you're gay?"

As I understand it, a midget is a person of short-stature with body parts in proportion where as dwarfisim have disproportionately short limbs to their body size.

You can be banned for saying 'coloured'? That's everyone over the age of about 50 banned then. It's not how I would describe a black person myself, it's not politically correct any more, but it was never used in this country as a term of abuse, it was always just a description. The older generation use it without any intention of causing offence what-so-ever. The use of the word will die out soon enough, but in the mean time let's not brand people racist for the use of a word that was perfectly acceptable for years, has no connotations with abuse and is definitely not meant to offend. For many people, it's the most polite word they know to describe someone of African origin because the word black was frowned upon in years gone by. They're using that word because they're trying to say the right thing and for years they were told it was the right word to use.

As for 'handicapped', I didn't even know that was offensive. When did that happen?

That's true enough Jay. In it's day the word "coloured" was meant in a PC way because they felt it wasn't appropriate to refer to someone as "black".

Since when has fairy meant gay? It means you're acting like a big jessy. Steve Agnew was a fantastic player, but sometimes he played like a fairy, jumping out of tackles and not wanting to get his shorts dirty. I never for one moment thought he was gay, just a great big jessy. You can shag you way through a million women, but you can still act like a fairy now and again.

I play for a football team in Preston every Sunday. Probably shout "yours" to our goalkeeper/centre half next to me about a dozen times during the game. Every season there is a pedantic referee who pulls me over and warns me for saying "yours".

Since when did "yours" get banned from a football pitch?

Always has been hasn't it? You can't shout 'Yours' or 'Mine', you have shout the name. Don't know for a fact if that's right, but that's what we were taught at Kexbrough Cosmos football training over 30 years ago. The coach drilled it in to us that we had to shout names as shouting yours and mine was against the rules.

Unsportsmanlike like conduct I believe, gaining unfair advantage over an opponent.

Thats another one he picks up on "mine". The same oldish referee, he's sound though, a real 'old school' character. He reminds me of a Preston version of Brian Glover out of Kez. Surely if Lee and Lee are going for the same ball, and Lee shouts "Lee's" it would be dangerous?. There isn't anyone on the football pitch called "mine".

Every single person on the pitch is called 'mine' if they all used that. That's kind of the point.

"I'm just going to nip to the lav,too many pints in the Queens. Didn't get chance on the way here, not having lavs in a Tranny van is a bit of a handicap and holding on's crippled me .At least it's spic and span in there and nobody's been having a ***, somebody must have cleaned it as it smells of Fairy Liquid."

That's me banned for life :D

To be fair though I know much more offensive words than those ;)

i think it's utterly embarrassing for liverpool football club. they threaten to ban someone for saying 'man up', yet they repeatedly issue their full support for luis suarez, found guilty of using racist language to another player. clowns
