Maybe give them their own section of the ground - I just imagine a load of people sat there with exactly the same hair cut displaying a very narrow emotional range wearing a shirt and tie and leaving ten minutes early to avoid the traffic.
That's not been true for a long time and if you take the final-salary pension into the equation as well public sector pay is quite a bit higher. BMBC employees get discounts off mobile phones as well, or at least they did a few years ago.
Ok so it was a rather glib interpretation, but your point was that people coming to the game should be doing so because of emotional attachment. Which surely rules out attracting new fans who may need convincing watching BFC is a better option than the alternative. Which is what this deal aims to do.
Indeed everyone is allowed an opinion however when its consistently a negative one it becomes quite tiresome, especially when the club is clearly trying to put on a positive front. A marketing tool that has been used to try get bigger crowds cue outrage.
As far as I know no-one currently working at BMBC will be getting that any more - I do agree that was a very generous scheme for those who have it and completely unsustainable.
Take exception with private firms who don't offer them instead of taking exception at public sectors employers who do (did) Or just admit that pensions are a ****ing scam.
Incorrect. You stated "there's plenty of other football clubs". I disagree with that comment. People who chosen or fallen for Barnsley Football Club won't switch allegiance just because they're offered a better deal by another club who they are, at best, indifferent to.
I think it's a good idea. I can't understand why people have a problem with it. It's not so dissimilar to us paying for advertising throughout BMBC except instead of paying BMBC for the right to advertise, we're giving their employees a discount. Schemes like this will be part of BMBC employees rewards package, why should we bemoan them that? Would you rather their rewards were solely monetary and they didn't need to spend money on BFC to take advantage of them?
I've said for ages that any pension scheme is essentially a pyramid scheme, I understand the South Yorkshire one is doing OK at the moment but it's only a matter of time before they start paying out a lot more than people are paying into it.
Is that a question for me? If so, yes I do. However as its the usual type of thing such as gym membership where there are plenty of other choices I don't think it's relevant to this debate. As I've already said.
What the **** has being a tory got to do with this. Your Tory would on principle anticipate that an investor which owns half the ground would no doubt leverage some advantage for itself from this investment. By gaining goodwill from its workforce from this ticketing arrangement the council should improve morale and therefore productivity. All good tory stuff. An individual Tory might indeed on hearing this price point was available also seek to negotiate this for themselves and possibly use this public knowedge as some kind of leverage with the club. Tory's would not simply get the monk on because someone else was cleverer or had taken more initiative or worked harder than them and they had not simply been handed the deal without having to do anything for it. That's what socialists do.
the consensus seems to be perfectly fine with it. i certainly am. always going to get some opposers to anything
Who has worked hard to get this deal at BMBC? I'd also suggest that the present incumbent Tory leadership don't give a shiny ***** about morale. You also misunderstand Socialism. No one should be handed anything for nothing. That's what happens with shares isn't it?
Say, for example, someone is thinking about joining a gym - 50/50, not quite sure. The company they work for offer an incentive of joining DW Fitness for £25 a month (instead of £30). Do you think that employee is more likely to join a gym (e.g. DW Fitness) at the new discounted price, or less likely? and if they do indeed join DW Fitness, would you say that increases DW Fitness' revenue/customer base or would it have a negative impact on revenue/new customers? We need more fans at Oakwell - kids, council workers, whatever.
