Tomorrow evening or maybe Sunday, you will see a thread from me - Wigan Home Man of the match. If and only if, you attend the game, you may vote for your MOTM and also 2nd & 3rd choice. Feel free to add comments, but please keep the thread free of any discussion, disputes, player bashing, favourite recipes etc. I will attempt to collate this data match by match, calculating individual player ratings thus: MOTM = 3 points, 2nd = 2 and 3rd = 1 point. You will have until the next league match to get your votes in, then that match will be closed and a MOTM announced. The points are then carried over all league and cup games throughout the season to give us a POTY. To keep it fair, I think it's best to vote on games you attend, not based on highlights, re-runs or live commentary. These are the rules in the London Tykes version, this is a far bigger job so I think I will keep it at that for now. It would also be possible to create a supporter analyst competition out of the data, maybe someone would like to take on that task? See how it goes after the first one and I will invite feedback and maybe tweek the idea from there. Start the betting now!!
i can pick that up, if it helps. can get my geek on with Excel. reserve the right to throw my toys out though, if people start getting silly
Cracking idea mr c. Going to be a tough one to carry out throughout the year but will be worth it in the end. I'm guessing we could put together to get a trophy engraved too.
It's not really my idea, London Tykes have done it for years via group email. Steve Dawson won last year, in fact he'd won it by Xmas. Steele and Perkins runners up I think. Funny that Daws hardly played after Xmas but then the MOTMs and big performers during the revival were all dead wood, reject no hopers who will never scoore and we should have got rid of last summer. And Luke Steele.
Great idea Mr C..you can't legislate for the k*******s who want to mess about, but I'm sure the vast bulk of us on here will do it in the right spirit.
I hope people join in and vote regularly, then it will be a accurate reflection. Those far flung mid week games we have will be crucial too, we will need those few fans to vote. Obviously, home games will attract more votes. Maybe there is a way around it, a pro rata average for away games?
I struggle with spread sheets. I can see some large, improvised kind of wall chart coming in to play.
