I've not seen a replay of the Jennings tackle, but...

...if it wasn't a sending off, and the Premiership hounding of the ref by the Wigan players helped to produce the red card, the I never want to hear about how much of a homely and down to earth club Wigan are.

They'll be just as cnutish and cynical as the rest of the a-holes ruining football in that there Premier League.

Law says if you try to win the ball by leading with both feet off the ground in a forward motion you are not in control of yourself and this is seen as both reckless and dangerous and will result in the player being dismissed

He lead with both feet off the ground end of story as plain a red card you will ever see

If so, then fair enough. I couldn't see it properly from ESL, but if that's the case...

However, other BFC fans on here seem to have a very different view.

Just on that point (not with regard to the tackle), that's what the Premiership does. It turns ordinary, down to Earth football clubs into mega-money businesses with high expectations and players who are big-time in both wages and egos. I'd love Barnsley to get the top flight, but I'd hate it as well.

Cheers for posting that. But I don't agree. I really don't see that as a dangerous tackle. No way was it two footed, over the ball or had any intent. Led low, with one foot. The other foot didn't seem to come through through either.

    Maybe I'm just hard though.

After seeing the replay (just once) I believe he led with one foot and the other foot only came round after the challenge had been made.

On that video he doesn't even look to leave the ground at all until after the challenge has been made and their player is already on the deck pretending to have two broken legs

Completely agree. Led with his right, won the ball, and the left came way outside and never touched the player. Hard challenge, maybe risky in the modern game, but dangerous? Not in my book.

Just on a different tangent, how many "warnings" did Ben Watson get today from the referee? Yet Jennings made one rash challenge on his home debut and got a straight red, where were his "warnings"

Exactly. First half, 3 cynical challenges by Wigan as we were brwaking away from their midfield. Ref made a meal of it but no booking. Cranie pulls away from a challenge second half and gets booked.

He gave the referee the option, didn't he?

Yet again: "Thee look in t'paper tomorrow lad, tha'll see whether it were a sending off!"

With acknowledgement to the immortal Harold Hackney.

Very true. But with that logic, any and every tackle creates an element of risk that could lead to action by the referee.

both feet where out in front of him and he lead with two feet, that is seen as a red card its not that hard to understand surely

Not a chance. Led with the right foot, and left took the ball wide of the Wigan player's right foot. Both feet were never at any time out in front of Jennings.

Any tackle made gives the ref the option by this definition so why the **** are our players making challenges at all?

Ben Watson gave the referee the option on 3 occasions to warrant 3 warnings
