Dawson did the same thing last year against Charlton - same ref - so what else could we expect!!

I never realised that going to ground was an instant red card, its just a shame that Jennings didn't get 3 warnings beforehand

Wigan player went over because he got there late and actually kicked Jennings' foot which was where the ball would have been had Jennings not side footed it away first. Bulls**t sending off.

A foul is a foul irrespective of its severity, yet Watson made 3 fouls which warranted 3 warnings, and still managed to dodge a yellow card

Looking at it again - I think that it may have been his reaction that got him sent off - he raised his hands to Watson. Very naive. He's only a young lad and supposed to have a lot of talent so hope everyone get's behind him, he learns and we move on.

I'd agree with that he had four round him though and wasn't backing down. Watson was in his face pretty sharpish. The tackle was a bit of a lunge mind, but I thought he won the ball and was in control. Their player hurt himself being late imo. I'll put it down to him being fired up and keen to do well, especially after falling over the ball ffs. He's obviously talented though but his youthful enthusiasm needs managing. Encouragement and support is what we should give him.

Totally agree I've just watched it back on iPad rewinding over n over on the challenge and for me even if this was a challenge against a Reds player it's a great challenge!!! Strong I admit but won the ball with his right foot NOT LEAVING THE FROUND AND NOT WITH BOTH FEET!! Then the ball bounced off his left which in real time may have looked like he took the player out with his right then won the ball after but that isn't the case!!! The Wigan players in my view had a lot of influence in the decision

He went darn like a flophouse whore and I thought so at the time and watching that just confirms it.

Glad the replay vindicates myself and Bossman. We were pretty low down in the Ponty but it looked a corker of a tackle to us. But once I saw their 'man' writhing around like he'd been shot in the arse, and the ridiculous crowding of a gormless ref, I feared the worse.

The ref today was as bias as they come. One rule for us, another for Wigan. He was also extremely unfit and struggled to keep up with play which often led to him blowing for needless free kicks in what I can only assume gave him a few seconds to get his breath back.

Funny how we go all Summer gagging for the new season and never remember just how crucial/key a referee is. It's not like it's a novelty, this. They're shocking more than 50% of the time.

agree entirely what I found hard to swallow was this mob was lead by Ben Watson, who was the dirtiest player on their side who the referee spoke to on at least 2 different occasions and refused to book

On that evidence, it seems a little harsh.

He scored an FA Cup final winner. Ref probably did him a favour in return for a signed shirt or summat.

    Conspiracy? I think not. :D

Having seen it on TV (and I thought it was a red card at the time) it's not a red card.

Never a red card. Similar to the lad who got sent off at Blackpool for the challenge on Foster last year. Wigan players' reaction was disgraceful, but sadly typical of football today. Authorities never do anything about it.

Text from a Leeds fan "Ive just watched your sending off 4/5 times - never a red card mate"

    that seals it then!
