Been at a football quiz tonight which had a round about Barnsley...

    Will fire out as many of the questions as I can remember. We dropped 1/2 point on the round. Obviously quite a few will be straightforward,

    1) What year was the stadium opened?
    2) In their second home game in the Premiership, who defeated Barnsley 0-6 at Oakwell?
    3) Which is the only stand at Oakwell that remains from its initial state?
    4) One of the stands at Oakwell was re-named as the Ora Stand and the CK Beckett stand - what was its original famous name?
    5) When opened, the East Stand at Oakwell was the first stand at a Yorkshire club to include what?
    6) Which rugby club played their first super league game at Oakwell?
    7) What is the official capacity of Oakwell? (allowed 1000 either side.)
    8) Who owns Oakwell?
    9) Which club adopted Oakwell as its home for a European tie in 2008?
    10) (1/2 POINT FOR EACH) Since the new away end opened at Oakwell, only SIX clubs have OFFICIALLY sold out the Barnsley away end. Name them.

    We got all correct apart from missing 1 of the 6 teams to officially sell out the away end. Obviously I can't vouch for the total accuracy of the answers.

    Correction - the round was about Oakwell, rather than Barnsley.

    Pretty much all correct up to number 10 (within 1000 on number 7), but on number 10, you have 4 out of 6 that "officially" sold it out. (we mentioned all 6 of those, and as I say, I can't vouch for official accuracy.)

    Again, we discussed all 3 of those Chris and were advised that none of the 3 of them 'officially' sold it out.

    Did you put Sheff United there as a joke? Lowest away following ever by a big city club - reckon they must have brought about 300 one year. Can't ever remember seeing it more than half full of Blades fans since it was built.

    Number 10 is surely: Leeds, Wednesday, Birmingham, Wolves, Sunderland and i'm gonna plump for Newcastle.

    I know that the Leeds, Wednesday and Birmingham fans have all overspilled into the west stand in the past, and then there was the counterfeit ticket fiasco with Wolves. Sunderland and Newcastle are just generally good travellers so i'd guess at them two.

    No, 8th November 2008, Barnsley 1 Sheff Utd 2 - they sold out the away end and sold out the West Upper, we didn't give them the lower. Total attendance 19,008 their biggest following at Oakwell since Agana scored the winner.

    We were told Derby, Leicester, Sheff Wed, Birmingham, Newcastle and Sunderland are only 6 clubs to have sold out the away end 'officially'. Made a big point of the fact that Leeds had never done it (mainly due to being quite a few Leeds fans in there!) As I say, I certainly can't vouch for the accuracy of it. We guessed at 5 of them and put Huddersfield instead of Birmingham.

    Team of 4 lads between 22-26 and we won the whole quiz which was nice, considering some of the picture rounds were of things before we were born!

    As a real challenge for you - one of the rounds was 20 anagrams of companies that have sponsored Premier League teams. We were there for 2 hours and managed to get 17 of them - see how you get on:

    They even forgot to include Hull, only a few months ago who went back to BFC to request more tickets after they had sold out the North stand and were refused. A bit of poor research from the quiz folk there.
