Naff things

    Totally nothing to do with football, but I had a conversation with friends about the term "Naff"

    The Dictionary translation is:-
    British English: naffPronunciation for naff If you say that something is naff, you mean it is very unfashionable or unsophisticated.The music's really naff.næf ADJECTIVE

    They said "naff" just means not trendy.

    I was saying that I felt "naff" related to people who are trying to be fashionable but are failing because it's cheap, tacky or unsophisticated.

    ... and yes I know what the urban dictoinary says about "naff"

    Anyway, my "naff" list is
    1. Car reg plates that aren't quite right - 5TEV 0 , or TR4C Y
    2. Those snap back baseball caps, when the sticker is left on.
    3. Those meaningless "wall art" things that come in a series of three, and depict nothing in particular, but have been mass produced for Home Bargains.
    4. Imitation Baileys.
    5. Leaving your Christmas Icicle decorations on your house all year.

    Any more?

    Personally, I'd go with your definition. Trying to be cool and trendy but getting it completely wrong. Either because you've tried to do it on the cheap or because your taste is simply terrible.

    How about just having hair in a style that suits, instead of following the latest most ridiculous trend.....

    £300 for a map of Norfolk's car parks was well steep. Not even sure what to do with it, maybe you could enlighten me? Will the pilot be fully clothed in the photo? You worry me you knuckle dragger.
