The cost of a packet of cigs is ridiculous these days, I've always smoked one brand and they are creeping towards eight quid a pack.

I'm not denying that a smoker will generally need to use NHS services later in life more than someone who has eaten vegetables and kept in shape all their life. But what about people who are massively obese, haven't looked after their body at all and just eat food which is full of the worst kind of fat? Surely these people are a far bigger burden on the NHS yet they are not being targeted in the same way smokers are?

You mean an increased risk of lung cancer, there's a difference.

    Post of the week....

I wouldn't have been able to draft a response like that id have just said what a load of ********

And that's why the government will never ban smoking outright. They generate too much tax

what's worse for you - 20 cigs a day or 4 Big Macs?

I'd say it was the Big Macs, especially a few years ago before McDonald's were forced to reduce the fat and salt content of their snap.

They don't need excusing. Grown adults are free to make their own lifestyle choices. You of all people know that.
