I bet that during the months of july and august there are more than 100 potential Barnsley fans on holiday at any one time. They will know in advance but knowing in advance doesn't always negate the cost implications. Most small businesses know (or can guess) in advance that the 20 year old lass they've just set on will likely have a baby at some point. It doesn't help them pay for her six months maternity leave though.
Yes but the other half of the world have had since the word cup started adapted their season to suit and built their domestic leagues accordingly. This will push the northern hemisphere into total chaos if they even attempt to try and accommodate the Qatar bid if FIFA wanted to explore as they have stated t should have been an open and long planned agenda
It is amusing watching FIFA worry about how a tournament can be held in a 50c dust bowl after pocketing the numerous expenses cheques from the Qatar fa....
I share your pain, but sacked by who? Money changes hands, deals get done, tickets from the FA of Zanzibar and god knows who end up with the touts for 5X face value. The touts get rich, the FA of Shiteholeistan get rich selling their 'football family' seats onto the black market and Blatter and co get the votes for turning a blind eye, or dare I say it organising the entire racket to begin with. Supporters get shafted. Fukc FIFA. Fukc the world cup.
This is a great oppertunity for uefa to tear away from FIFA and start a more answerable and democratic world movement. What's chances?
It's 9 years away. Regardless of the initial ridiculous decision to award it to Qatar if the FA and other footballing organisations can't work out a mid season break they need looking at. we could always do what rugby union does and carry on playing league games , radical and all that but I couldn't be arsed about watching England and its overpaid, under performing 'superstars' anyway
The Premier league should carry on as normal, top sides will have to play youth team players and the like but it might make it interesting for the duration. We don't stop for the ACN. Get the kids on.
But why should they have to? The World Cup is a summer tournament and that's how it should stay. Why should nigh on one hundred years of tradition be thrown in the bin just to cover up the corruption within the highest office in world football.
Because its not the end of the world if they do. FIFA don't care when it's played or who they upset, as long as the money is right
No it's not the end of the world but aren't some things worth making a stand over? In terms of football the World Cup is the pinnacle, the biggest festival of football on the planet. FIFA are corrupt and this is the opportunity for all those associations who care to make a stand and tell them where to go. Let's smoke out Blatter and his cronies while we have such a major piece of propaganda that we can use as a tool against them. We may not get another opportunity.
Plenty of European countries have a winter break so it wouldn't harm us in England for just one year. People would know a few years in advance it was going to happen so would only miss a season ticket game if they booked an holiday for more than a week at a time. Plus instead of sitting in dark/cold during the winter we'd see the season stretch into the better/warmer months.
This is not about making an adjustment and everything will be ok, it's so much more than that. It's about principle, corruption and doing the right thing. The reason why nothing will ever change in football is because too many people just shrug their shoulders and say 'oh well, let's just carry on regardless, I'm sure we can make this work'. Some people have no right to moan about FIFA.
Course it would most of premiere players would not be here playing they'd be at world cup. Can't believe some of content on this thread might as well buckle up and give in while FIFA officials give finals to highest bidder into officials bank account.
