To the tune of £1500. Only giving me 30 days to repay. Oh ok, Mr Taxman, here you go, not that I've got a pot to p*ss in.
Government debt. Do not ignore. As they will issue proceedings. They'll accept an arrangement if its cleared in under a year.
Got mine over 13 years but that were not long after it started, ar lass has one over 5 years started 2 years ago.
Most outstanding tax is getting outsourced to external agencies. Means they'll get more back in return even with the debt collectors cut. Government offices are scripted to what they can and can't say. When those avenues are exhausted they'll look for legal options to recover.
I thought that if over payments had been made then they simply reduced your payments until the required balance had been settled???
Now I'm back at work we don't qualify. It's daft, we needed them to supplement our income now it seems we're getting punished for going back to work.
A suppose there view is that if your back at work then when will you pay it back but in your defence you've got yourself a job and are now been penalised. Try for a manageable monthly payback mate. Hope it all gets sorted for you.
Doing the same to us - to the tune of nearly 3.5k, every penny they paid us. Appealing ours though - I told them about our changes in circumstance and they did jack all.
And if they think they're getting it back over 12 months they've a job on. I can really afford to lose three hundred quid a month.
there arses... after our baby our lass went back to work... we informed then we no longer would need any help and would run to april and then that be it... we gave them facts and figures payment were changed to suit BUT they stated they could NOT stop paying us altogether SO we go a letter we would be due another £400 but at end of year we will have been OVERPAIDED by £400 Can you not then just not pay us that sum... NO we carnt do that... Laughable... anyhow long story short... we didnt recieve another payment last year at all but still got a letter stating we owed them £689.00 rung to sort payments they then told us £765 ... got letter yesterday now states £489... you tell me
Exactly same as us. Wife was a student and finished last Sept. Thankfully got a job quite quickly so phoned to advise them. We knew the income would take us over the allowance so asked them to stop paying us. Answer - Sorry we cant do that. Questioned why when we technically now didn't need the money, still said they had to pay us. Early June got a letter saying now owed them £550. Small amount compared to some but still technically a debt that we are now having to budget around to pay back.
An insider view challenge any overpayments created by DWP error. Depending on the situation they may not be recoverable. If in doubt seek advice from Citizens Advice. Basically if you believe you discharged all your legal duties then you can challenge the recovery of any overpayment.
I owe£1500 they wanted £50 month. told em to ballacks I set a dd to pay em 15 a month and never heard from em since
