Ok fair enough, there are a lot of people your age who are extremely gullible and fall for all sorts of crap. Look at them two lasses in Peru.

oh yeh mate, i know what you mean.

I turned down an offer to go to Ecuador to coach one of their second division sides. I originally thought it was a con and was proved wrong but i've done my research and everything is legit

Sounds like you have your head screwed on the right way, if you go into it with you eyes open, it could be a fantastic adventure.

Just make sure you research everything about living and working in Mexico, don't wait until you are there before you come across any nasty surprises

I'd go for it. Like has been said, a year or 2 and its a great experience even if you hate it. Don't take it and you'll live to regret it, I got offered a job in the US back in 1998 and turned it down after much thought. Regretted it ever since.

Twillo go for it, I have just started coaching here in the USA, slightly different to you under 10 girls but been doing some college stuff too.

There are so many talented players here male and female. Mexico will be the same.

I worked in the US for 12 months teaching football and it was a good experience but that's about it, I was never tempted at any point to stay over there. Think of you're CV thought first mate, you're young so it's not the be all and end all. As others have said on here, if you don't like it you come back. My only advise to you would be to not jump in with both feet, get into a dig with a family who will take you in to lower the cost of your living (FA have bonding homes you can be linked to) and don't be buying transport and so on until you know it's right for you.

Good luck with whatever you choose, just remember Mexico isn't all sunny beaches and sombreros mind! Can get very nasty.

Been in Korea for five years and never regretted it. (Still don't speak Korean, mind!)

I'd go for it; you never know what other advancements it could lead to.

Why not? Having been to other Asian countries I can't believe they speak such good English there that you can get away without the local language. Or Korea is an exception on that front?

The Koreans I interact with are usually Korean English teachers and so they have relatively good English. I'm also lazy.

My missus has good English, however her family don't speak a word. Luckily, I know enough words to make myself understood on a very basic/pre-school level.

    Korea is really difficult!!

I've heard it's not easy, but supposed to be far easier than Chinese or Cantonese. It just seems to me that moving to another country and not learning that language is missing out on a once in a lifetime opportunity. Being born with English as a first language is probably one of the luckiest things that can happen to anyone but it doesn't half make us lazy when we go abroad! I was so sure when I came to Russia that everyone would speak English like they do in the rest of Europe. I was very wrong!

I agree entirely. We came out here without kids (and without jobs) and said that we would give it 2 years to see if it works out. That was 13 years ago. Just do it.

Give it a go fella, what's the worst that could happen.

You'll probably only regret it otherwise.

A lad I went to uni with did a placement for a major banking company in Germany (completely different country I know) he enjoyed the experience that much, that the last I heard, he was job hunting in Germany.

Check with the foreign office website if there are any issues about the part of the world you would be living in, and with ex-pat forums for insider information. It might be that you are in a perfectly safe part of the world, but you could also be moving to an area in the middle of a drugs war where kidnapping and murder is rife.

Provided that you are safe and have an exit strategy in case things change then go for it.

Get yourself off, you'll regret it if you don't go.

One thing to remember, claim your Tax back from the Inland revenue once you've gone. I ended up with a grand in the hand. My boss lived in Mexico for a year and bloody loved it, speaks fluent Spanish now.

Good point made about ex pat websites. Invaluable. We found one for American ex pats in UK and it really helped with the wife moving over

go, or spend the rest of life saying "What If"

its that simple. You may love it, you may hate it. You can always come back to UK. But turn it down and you will for the rest of your life wonder "what If I HAD gone to Mexico"

Re: go, or spend the rest of life saying "What If"

We spent almost 5 years in Australia and when you come back Employers give you so much credit for having the guts to go and live & work abroad.

Go, otherwise you'll regret it (although at your age you will probably have chance to do it again, if not in Mexico somewhere else).
