To be fair why would he come back now? Played most of preseason for Everton, broke into the U21. He will play plenty of games in the Premiership next season and wouldn't surprise me if he was called upto the full squad.
Thought he played very well last night.

Doesn't sound in the slightest bit derisory to me. It's an interview about how he's enjoying his development with Everton and England, and he gives a good account of how he wants to fight for a place in both sides.

I can see him making a massive impact this season.

disagree. he wanted to leave. flitcroft said it, rowing said it. granted, he did say it was 'a massive decision'. but i suspect the only thing massive about it, was which Club to join. personally think naming a gym after him is now even more ridiculous than i first thought, i.e. train hard, and you can leave as soon as physically possible. interviews can come across the wrong way - i just think he came across pretty disrespectfully to us

Since he moved to Everton he may not have had any first team football but he's broken into the U20s followed by the U21s, he's played an scored against Juventus for the first team. He's now being raved about by their fans and looks set to break into the first team for Everton this season, particularly if they pick up any injuries. All this in 6 months.

Oh, and he'll have quadrupled his wage. Not a bad move by anyone's standards.

Liar. He wanted to go, and he only let us know late on in the transfer window so we couldn't even find a replacement and use the money. He does not respect or care about the club which is fair enough but I just wish fans of the club would stop hero worshiping him. The "John Stones Gym" must have made him laugh his socks off.

I can't believe how someone can interperate an interview so wrongly. John loves barnsley FC and he gave his thanks to the club in the first 2 or 3 interview after he left. It was a MASSIVE decision for John to leave, and a decision which was made purley based on footballing reason. I've seen John at 3-4 games since he left for everton including the preseason games. The lads got his head screwed on and is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the genuine big timers who left us. We could be cheering this lad on in a world cup one day knowing he's one of our own. Don't let your bitter view spoil enjoying what could be an incredible career from a lad from your home town.

Agree with you on the stupid idea of naming a gym after him, when he'd just spent a few months in the first team and was then off like a shot to the first offer.

Why did he not come back on loan rather than playing no competitive football for the back end of the season? In a footballing world of player power, he could easily have insisted on this if he cared about BFC. Get over it he was never that bothered about us.

He could kick, scream, shout much as he wants but Everton were never going to send him out on loan.

It's you who needs to get over it pal. You're the one holding a grudge over a 19 year old kid. I'm happy for the lad and I'm enjoying tracking his progress.

Listen he's in with a chance in getting into a Premier League first team, why would he want to come back on loan to Barnsley?

We've got £3m which maybe wasn't enough but, he was at Oakwell for over 10 years, where he was nurtured into the talent he is today, one of very few young players to keep of Twitter and away from the press, as said before very down to earth lad and still comes to Barnsley with his mates when he can.

Perhaps he remembered what happened to Butterfield.

He could have stayed with us, got injured, and that (possibly) could have been his chance of premiership football gone.

The lad wants to be the best, and to him, that means Premiership football, and maybe a full England cap

    Good luck to him.
