Man up Carrick you big wuss. Playing for your country is an honour that thousands of kids dream of. In fact, I know a few visually impaired players who wouldn't sniff the opportunity.
Pointless friendly, in turn these pointless friendlies dilute the dream of playing for England which is a shame. Obviously i disagree with him pulling out for it as like you say its every kids dream to play for their country, but playing a team from the backwaters of international football with only injuries to be gained is a bit daft.
How do the players get used to playing with each other so they're ready for competitive matches without friendlies though?
Would be true however most of the time theres that many substitutions the players hardly ever play together for a full game. Its also a month before our next qualifier and three days before the start of the season. I suppose Scotland are a similar standard to Moldova however i just dont see it as a big game and can understand players dropping out close to the season. A better quality opposition would have been far more interesting.
I agree about the substitutions. I guess that's down to the managers not wanting their players to play too many minutes for fear of injury/fatigue. While I'd prefer us to play Brazil, at least the Scotland match should mean more to the players than beating Moldova. Apparently there will be 20,000 Scottish fans inside Wembley, so they'll be up for it.
All friendlies are pointless these days for the very reason that the manager can never pick his preferred 11 because players throw in sick notes. Refreshing to hear Stones on the radio saying what an honour it is. Unfortunately somewhere between u21s and the full side, alot of players lose sight of the honour.
I've had several eye infections, never has it prevented me from going to work, or driving for that matter. Many of them were caused by playing football, getting sand in my eyes when I used to play in goal on the hyman astroturf.
