Didn't say I agreed with it. I know the way Ashley sets up his company is ***** basic then performance related pay but I'm not 100% sure how this relates to staff on a PT/FTE basis. It will be interesting how it works out as I suspect that it'll lead to more on the job queue. On a personal note, I'd have gone for tescos. Proper ****ish company of the highest order.
Companies do manage to set workers on,particularly Students, on contracted hours for seasonal work. This is simply a way for employers (particularly the larger ones) to exploit people and their lives. Wonder how many of these employers 'had lunch' with call me Dave at No.10.
So everyone else should lose their jobs and the people who quite happily chose to take zero hour contracts should be denied this all because you believe that they are morally wrong?
It is aso considered by DWP if they refuse zero hour contracts at job shop they're benefits are stopped
That's capitalism pal somebody will take their place if they can't function the demand doesn't go away
I used to work for Tesco 1997-98, and they were a decent employer. very good atmosphere etc. Then they started bringing in new contracts and other stuff, apparently in went downhill after that.
It is aso considered by DWP if they refuse zero hour contracts at job shop they're benefits are stopped Blackmailing b@stards. Aboot time this unelected Govt. were kicked into touch.
But aren't they looking after their employees here by contracting with workers instead of requesting that the employees work additional hours or stretch themselves further to cover? Just playing devils advocate like.. In response to other posts, if someone works say 40 hours for a set period, say over 5,6 months it is highly likely that a tribunal will find that their contract was varied by custom and practice.
I know a few who started when they opened when I lived in chezza. Some of the **** they pulled was frightening. You never got a full break or dinner and your wages docked if you were back late. Silly rules making you go canteen for your break which if your on tills is a two minute walk. Warehouse was worse.
According to some callers on Jeremy vine they were informed that if they refused a job offer on zero hours contracts their unemployment benefits were stopped some weeks they had no work others very little and were going into a minefield with dwp's system as their are very few grey areas fr discretion
You just wait 'til the health system is out of reach for some. Full regression by 2050? This country is the pits.
Gotcha. If so, that's very harsh but an issue with the benefit system. But don't take vine as gospel..a lot of crap spouted on that show Btw I don't doubt that sports direct are abusing zero contracts, but if so, they will get caught out. They are required though in my view for some businesses to operate.
The casual worker has been around for years in certain industries and it is indeed essential for some. There is an understandable difference in law, been accepted for years. I understand a zero hour contract to be a casual worker. So why is it that people are going mad about it now? It's obviously being abused to avoid having any of the extra costs that having an employee has. Sports Direct are a perfect example of that. I can't see why in that industry it needs to run by offering it's employees zero hours. It's the fat cats at the top who have seen an opportunity to have a workforce on the cheap. It feckin stinks. Greed. The people at the bottom struggle on, the money saved goes upwards.
Agree that some people benefit from them but its no coincidence that they have grown as fast as they have by workers demanding them they.have been misused by employers and not just for their buisness to survive in a lot of cases its to enhance their already booming profit margins
Hey Ian, I think the Tories will get in next time (propoganda etc) If they do and you lot vote for Independence, would you sponsor me and I'll gladly become a Scotsman.
