seriously Bluebird I hope you have a good season.. we all looked forward to our season in the prem.. yes we did enjoy but we went straight down. Expect the pundits to have you as one of the fave's for relgation. I hope you prove them wrong... certainly it seems you have the finances more than we had . But looking at the signings so far you have made, I for one would be very nervous about the forthcoming season in the prem. Then again maybe Malky is trying to be prudent and saving a wad of cash just in case you do drop. Personally I hope you have a success as Swansea did. BTW have you watched the documentary on Swansea , " The Fall and Rise".. ok I know their is no love lost between the Bluebirds and the Jacks , but seriously its well worth a watch. Good luck matey for the season... oh and BTW YHM
Re: seriously Bluebird The thing I'm looking forward to most tbh is visiting different grounds & playing different teams. I saw a stat somewhere that we'd been in the Championship longer than any other club. The Premiership isn't the be all & end all to me - but it'll make a nice change. Vincent Tan certainly has the cash to help us survive (and prosper), don't worry about that. I think our signings have been decent - and there's more to follow by all accounts. We'll soon see anyway. The only time I watch Swampsea is on Crimewatch or Jeremy Kyle tbh - although I did enjoy one documentry about the place, Twin Town.
Re: seriously Bluebird http://www.vice.com/en_uk/rule-britannia/rule-britannia-swansea-full-length Think you'd enjoy this insight into Swansea, then.
Re: seriously Bluebird Cheers mate. Not got any great expectations but you never know. I love the Championship anyway lol
Re: seriously Bluebird Good luck to you, matey. A mate of mine is a Cardiif lad/fan and so I was happy for you to go up. Although I do find the rebranding thing a bit hard to swallow. But we are only mere supporters. Nowt we can do about how our clubs are run. Unlike Dragon Tyke, I happen to think you've made what appear to be some astute signings, on paper. Caulker for sure. As I say, good luck.
Re: seriously Bluebird As I'm sure Dragon Tyke can testify, there's been three BBC Wales series (not one-offs, 6 episodes or so each!) about the place recently - on their drug problem, homelessness & gypsies. My head office is in Swansea and, up until 6 months ago when I started working from home, went into "hell" every day. Trust me, it IS like that. A good mate of mine has it worse than me though - works in the Call Center. And yes, Nev is like that all day, every day
Good luck, I predict you to finish 4th bottom, Hull, Palace and Stoke below you. I think you have made 2 very good signings. Caulker is PL class all day, Medel is a top international with 50 odd caps for a decent country too. Reckon you will look quite solid. Cornelius looks a prospect but he is young and inexperienced to be pinning your hopes on. Think you may need to do some more business to avoid being right in the scrap to the end, but you have forked out about 25m on these 3, how much will you spend?
Re: seriously Bluebird Cheers fella. Wouldn't mind betting I know you're mate if he's a regular - even if it's only on nodding terms . No-one likes the red and would prefer to be in our traditional blue. Personally, I don't think there was an option given our debt - it really was "red or dead" imo. I think our signings have been decent as well and I'm sure there's more to come - another 2 or 3 imo. I'll be honest, I'm gobsmacked Caulker joined us. If he left Spurs, I would have thought he'd go to a top 6 club given his rapid rise and room for further development. A little birdie tells me that his missus is in Cardiff Uni though - he met her when he was down here on loan at the jacks. Medel looks ideal in the defensive midfield role - a right pain, hassling everywhere. Had rave reviews marking Messi in La Liga & has 50 caps at 26 so can't be too bad! Not sure about the young centre forward - although top goalscorer with Copenhagen (18), Champions League expoerience and a full danish international at 20, you must have something going for you. Think Brayford from Derby is decent as well - and in a position we definately needed strengthening in. But our best player was already at the club imo, Kim Bo Kyung. What a player this boy is - and is getting better & better. Malky hardly used him up until February as it appeared he was struggling to adapt. Since then, wow.
Re: seriously Bluebird Bluebird You have come onto our forum and have been refreshing in what you have had to say - supportive, encouraging and a true football fan. For all of that, mate, you deserve our respect and support for your adventures in the Premiership. We will watch your results with interest, and I for one wish you all the very best. Above all, enjoy the Premiership.
Pretty much what I've written in a response further up! Vincent Tan said yesterday that he's expecting to spend £35m and "maybe more". We're actively chasing another centre forward - Oscar Cardozo was mentioned but seems to have gone quiet there. We've had a bid for a tricky winger, Jefferson Montero, accepted at £4.7m and that's looking quite good apparently. Malky keeps them pretty quiet though in fairness, we tend to find out when they've signed - completely different to when Dave Jones was here and everyone knew who was down here in talks, led to loads of deals falling through.
Re: seriously Bluebird Is the Danish lad the one that's tall as trees? Surprised Wednesday didn't go in for him... Didn't even realise you'd signed Brayford. Very talented. My mate Ross lives in Barnsley now so rarely gets down anymore unfortunately, but I know he's planning on making the northern away trips. I think you'll be fine this season. 14th or above. A lot of dross in there this year - Stoke, Newcastle, Sunderland, Norwich, Palace and Hull. But I can't see you finishing above the Swansea mob. Great side, great manager. Other than that, I know less than nowt about them as they've always been in the alehouse divisions until recently. Beating them in Cardiff was nice, though.
Re: seriously Bluebird Thanks very much - I'm blushing  Too many trolls & WUMs on the net imo. I've always found most posters on here to be good, genuine people - that's why I enjoy it & have stayed. There's an opening for you in my fan club btw. Bit more than that actually - you'd have to form it first
Re: seriously Bluebird Yes, he's 6'4" & built like an outhouse. Two footed as well by the looks of it, could be interesting. I've been saying 15th tbh. Would take out Norwich & Sunderland from your list and add in Villa myself. Swansea have a head start on us & have done fantastically well. Their recent choice of managers has been a spectacular success, as well as some astute signins. Thier luck in both fields can't last though surely lol? As an aside, I heard a whisper from a sponsor of theirs (who'd had it from an ex-player he knows) 2 months ago that Michu was going to Arsenal. Ashley Williams (who I can't see as a player for the life of me!) is/was also unsettled. Apparently, he and another player there (think it may be Leon Britton, unbelievably) have in their contracts that they'll be the highest paid player at the club by £2k - much the same as Lampard & Terry at Chelsea. They were on £40k at Christmas time and Swansea had a bid for another Spanish guy (surprise, surprise) accepted - think he's one that recently joined Liverpool. He was supposed to be on £100k but this fell through because of the Williams & A N Other clauses. Williams contract is due to be renewed next year and they tried to negotiate another. He agreed - but only at the £102k that he "should" have had in January! They fell out big time (as did Laudrup), but the club have since forgotten all their "we operate on a strict financial footing, unlike others" thrifty moral highground and lashed out. Strangely enough, less that a week after Laudrup was threatening to walk.
Re: seriously Bluebird The real football season started two weeks ago. Although ours hasn't yet! Good luck!
