How often can you think of us winning/drawing a game when we didn't deserve to? Blackpool game - they don't have a shot on target and spawn 3 points, Charlton today, out played for long periods yet nick a point. Whenever we win, we seem to have had to play brilliantly and/or absolutely battle our balls off. Gets frustrating!
Nowt to do with luck Journo. 2 nil up and switch to an ultra defensive formation without using players experienced in that role and you will invite pressure. Rely on relatively poor defenders to soak up that pressure and they will crack.
Other things that NO manager in my watching history have sorted out... 1. We concede a huge proportion of our goals in the last 5 minutes of either half and gain negligible numbers of match winners in this time. Most Barnsley fans know if we're not 3 goals clear at 85 minutes we're probably going to loose 2. We might was well not bother taking corners - we've scored 5 from corners in 25 years. Why there is a ripple of excitement when we win one is beyond baffling. 3. None of our players are bothered about throw ins. 4. We always get **** refs.
Not at the moment - but I left it out because we've had momentary successes with Barnard, Hignett and that little bald guy who did **** all else but take monster free kicks - had a foot like a traction engine. can't remember his name. played under Davey I think. Went to turkey Left goalkeeper shaped holes in the back of the nets with football pie everywhere.
Yes, we had some hard fought draws last season towards the end, not sure they were all massively lucky as such. The Foster equaliser at Cardiff was a bit flukey but we'd done okay that game. At Palace and Forest we didn't score a lucky goal or something against the run of play, just battled and held on due to some good defending and goalkeeping. We were second best in the games though granted. I can't think of many we've won where we've been really lucky though. There were many games last year we deserved a result on play/chances and got zip.
