Wow how much did you used to hate that as a Kid, Walking around town and seeing all the shops pushing their school uniforms on you. On the plus side I remember end of August getting a new pair of schools shoes and been told to make them last, no playing football in them on riding bikes with them on. Always got a new pencilcase with had everything in you could imagine and losign them all by 2 weeks. What's your memories of going back to school ?
Ah, those were the days. Us poor kids had to take chalk & slates into school. The posh kids (those who could afford to eat!) took quills and parchment. We were only allowed to write in Latin. Daily beatings with the birch and cane were commonplace. But we were happy.
I remember tufty aswell, plus bright orange armbands for our duffle coats and those bright orange duffel bags.,sneakers from the army stores on wombwell.
Tufty was the road crossing squirrel. It preceded the green cross code man. 100% attendance for the school term and you got a Tufty snotrag. Great because most of us had a snotted up top lip.
Not so much as going back to school, but does anyone remember one year having double summer time when it was pitch black on the way to school (or was it just my five mile hike with shoes with no soles) which made it seem thus?
Remember guys, there are some of us adults who have to go back to school at the end of the holidays too!
Re: Exactly! We've got training days a week on Monday and Tuesday and then back on Wednesday. Kids are mainly Donny fans so I hope to god we're above them by then!
Re: Exactly! Ouch! That's early!! We've got training days Thurs and Fri, not next week, but the week after, and then back on Monday (Leeds).
Re: Exactly! School uniform washed and pressed, satchel polished. Back to uni for me. I can't complain, as I took a sabbatical last Christmas.
Re: Exactly! I'm primary. We finished quite late though, we did Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (up until 24th) in the last week.
Re: Exactly! I'm primary too, the classrooms ready, the displays are up. Labels on pegs...everything's ready except me. My kids, one just got her g.c.s.e. results yesterday, about to start VI form and the other just going into year 10 don't help. They are both walking round with faces like smacked ar5es because they only have a week left.
