    FOOTBALL - DONE DEAL

    Wigan Athletic's 41-year-old goalkeeper Mike Pollitt joins Barnsley on loan and is set to make his debut against Southampton in the Capital On Cup second round on Tuesday, according to the Wigan Evening Post. Pollitt's last senior appearance was for Wigan against Bournemough in the FA Cup on 15 January.

    That's what I'd thought. Someones updated wikipedia too.

    It seems really harsh on the other goalies and luke himself if it's true.

    Looks like Flicker realises he's had to do something about your keeper situation before people start calling for him to be sacked. I think the manager should be praised and backed for this. Four league games in it can't have been easy for him to bring in a loan to replace a guy who's played over 200 times for us but he has.

    If this is true, then Alnwick is finished at BFC?

    For me, the obvious thing tonight was to play either Alnwick or Dibble.......we ain't going to win the cup, so may as well give them a go and show some support for the squad and competition for Steele.

    I'd not want either of them in goal tonight. Two guys with barely a championship game between them chucked in at the deep end against a top flight team? No thanks. Also who says we can't win the league cup? It's a chance to make our club more money too.

    Im with Pasta. Giving Steele the night off and one of the others a game would've been my choice. Steele needs to work on a few things and the other lads need a game. Bringing in experience is all very well if our first choice keeper was injured but lord knows what Alnwick or Dibble even will be thinking right now. In fact if this is the way to go, why is Alnwick even at the club?
    Still, it'll make tonight interesting anyway.
