To support your "rustier than the Titanic" statement, I posted earlier:- For information, Pollitt has been at Wigan for 8 seasons and played 36 games for them since 2005. My maths says this averages at 4-5 games per season. So since he left Rotherham, for Wigan, he's not exactly had much game time. Makes the decision even more baffling...........
This is a baffling signing. Concedes 5 on debut. What does bringing in a 41 year old in for a month when all our other keepers are fit come across to the lokes of Steele Alnwick and Dibble?
So Pollitt is the future at 41 y o. Thought we weren`t dealing with short termism and looking to the future. Yer baffling the **** art o me Flicker.
To be fair, we could have a world beater between the posts and we'd still get hammered with that shower defending the goal in front of them.
Flicker says to:- Steele - buck yer ideas up, cos you've now got a 41 year old never-has-been, breathing down yer neck. Either that,or **** off. Alnwick - just simply **** off, as soon as possible. Dibble - who are you lad, never heard of yer. Was yer Dad a keeper?
I have to say I hadn't been worried in the slightest before the signing of Pollitt. I have no doubt that resting Steele against Southampton was a sound move I also accept that Alnwick is completely useless. But and a big but we have 2 reserve keepers one a young lad with some promise for a reason. They are meant to provide competition to Steele and be able to step in as and when needed. If they can't do this or the manager believes they can't then they need to be shipped out. But replacing them with a 41 year old who hasn't played regularly ina decade. Baffling. Worrying.
