Not something to be particularly proud of, but after the second went in I couldn't think of a single reason for staying. The game was over, we were going to get stuffed and I was bloody miserable. I had a choice tonight, go to the match or go see a band I really like in Sheffield. Stupidly I chose the former. If we're playing at home, I can't contemplate doing anything else. But after witnessing the pathetic way we gave the ball away for their second, I thought '**** this', left the game, drove to Sheffield, saw the band I like and they were bloody marvellous. I think Flitcroft's lost the plot. Completely. Why is our squad so bloody huge? What the ******* hell fire are we doing signing a 41 year old goalkeeper on loan and putting him straight in to the team without him even training with us? It's just bonkers. Why wasn't there a defender on the bench tonight? Has Bobby Hassell loved Flicker's dog? If he was going to be ignored so completely, why was he offered a new contract? I like Bobby Hassell, I think he's easily good enough to play in our side, but if Flitcroft doesn't that's fine. I want to see Bobby playing football, preferably for us, but if not for someone else, not training with the kids and playing under 21 football. It's a shocking way to treat a player who has given 9 years great service to our club. Last time I saw Jim O'Brien he was tearing S****horpe's left back a new arsehole as he ran at him again and again and again and just destroyed the lad. Tonight he rarely got over the half way line and didn't get within 20 yard of their fullback before releasing the ball. I know Southampton are a different proposition altogether to Scunny, but he didn't even try to attack their defence. Either he **** his pants, or that's how he was told to play. If it's the latter, then, well, I don't know what sport we're playing because it's not football. We've played much worse than tonight since we've been back in the Championship and I haven't got nearly as irate, but I thought we were on to something, this manager and these players showed us all what they could do last season, but tonight was ******* ****.
Absolutely agree with everything. First time I've left a game early tonight cos I was shattered after a long day at work and figured if they can't be arsed neither can I. As you say in your rant it's not at all about the bad performances it's the built up expectation from last season being completely crushed after a series of pastings, thrown away 2-0, most dry 1-0 loss without even a single shot and scraping through SOMEHOW against a much lower league team on a set of the worst penalties I've ever seen. I don't know what's happened to flicker but he's a different man this year and it is getting old already. Good night.
Just keep the faith son..Flitcroft has forgotten more about football than any of us on here will ever know.
August not even over and am already losing interest. Im baffled that despite last seasons escape being based on getting in the faces of the opposition and giving everything to try and win, now we are apparently going out to try not to lose, and failing big time. The previous manager became too obsessed with constantly doing the same things over and over despite them not working because he didn't have the balls to drop his buddies and it ultimately cost him his job. Flitcroft is going down the same road and just like the previous manager the outcome will be exactly the same unless he starts doing whats right for all of the team and not just the Rochdale crew
