Can have all the fight you want - if the players aren't good enough it's like Richard Dunne v Muhammed Ali.
Fighting talk, at last too much pally pally, arm around shoulders pampering has led to some of "the group" getting complacent, he needs to rattle a few cages, drop a few that thought they were untouchable and eek out a few results, no need to get too intricate with formations, just get a team 100% committed and the fans will respond.
Re: Fighting talk, at last Let's see how long he stays loyal to those that fought for him last season but may not have the quality needed for this level. The longer he persists, the more chance he has of getting the bullet. Maurice and Ben aren't here to **** about - the 'Assurances' work both ways I would imagine - once he's been given everything he wants on and off the pitch, results had better pick up....
I suspect bringing Pollitt in is Flitcroft sending a message out ie captain can be dropped anyone can be. I truly hope for his sake he gets a few back from injury for Saturday, Perkins if fit is a must and he's got to push O Brien back into midfield cos without the energy and commitment in midfield we look pedestrian. I expect Huddersfield will really fancy it, 4,000 in the away end and if the team doesnt show fight and commitment, there'll be no Bob Marley and a lot of unrest.
Re: Fighting talk, at last I suspect he'll be spending some of his time this week trying to get the squad size down cos it wont have gone unnoticed. We still need a striker but if it were me in his shoes, last throw of dice almost, I'd be asking for funds to bring in a top draw experienced centre half on loan with the aim being clean sheets and a few 1-nil wins.
Re: Fighting talk, at last It'd be nice if we could get some midfielders/widemen on the pitch that can go forwards. He has a bloke kicking his heels that can play centre half if we're short. Thought McNulty did alright last night to be fair. Kennedy would be on his way if I were in charge.
Re: Fighting talk, at last Agreed. One of the most worrying things last night was that McNulty had a really good game and we still shipped five. Kennedy would have had the hook after 45 seconds if I'd have been the manager last night when he totally turned his back on the game to have a go at the linesman and let them clean through on goal down the middle. Obviously not properly swithced on.
Re: Fighting talk, at last Kennedy was poor but Goldbourne last night reminded me of El Hamouir, after being made to look a fool for the 3rd, he wandered around like he'd seen a ghost, couldnt wait to get off the pitch. He's one that needs to know he wont be picked on the strength of what he did last season. Reuben being a Huddersfield lad, would be in for Saturday for me. Forced to pick from what we have, I'd be going with Cranie, Kennedy, Mvoto with reluctantly Wiseman as right back to mark Hammill out of the game.......good god.
Re: Fighting talk, at last Believing his own hype from last season. It was something a bairn wouldn't do. Genuinely unbelievable stuff.
That's ridiculous I,m sick of people saying they are not good enough, they proved they were good enough last season!
Re: I suspect bringing Pollitt in Probably right. Hope you are as the alternative is we are on an old mates jolly.
Re: I suspect bringing Pollitt in Getting a bit annoyed by his interviews as he is (somehow) increasingly starting a sentence without knowing how he is going to finish it. Result? Says a buzz word three or four times in 30 seconds. Latest radio Sheffield interview another example.
Re: Fighting talk, at last Wasted there. The lad was confident and playing well going forward with the ball and taking men on, the last 2 games he`s had that shattered by being used too defensively.
Re: Fighting talk, at last It is barmy. McNulty good enough to start last night but then left on the bench yesterday whilst JOB was hammered at full back. When Wiseman could have played there....
Re: Fighting talk, at last Free kicks get me, a chance to put the ball in the box yet we play it square, then spend the majority of our possession in the game with 3 or 4 players down the left trying to engineer a cross into the box. Puzzling. O`Grady needs to learn he aint a feckin winger, get him in central any second ball that drops away from him could be a shooting opportunity.
Re: Fighting talk, at last You see we seemed to have sorted this last season. Set pieces went forward instead of square and we were putting crosses into the box from good areas. No COG is expected to flick on to himslef or cross to himslef.
