Excellent business. Got absolutely no issues with flogging a one footed left back who thinks he's a winger but can't cross a ball for £700k.

If that's true then it's a great piece of business by Mansford and Flicker.

    Re: True

I hope the article you have posted is right and mine's wrong.

Either way, we've made a substantial profit. I thought Golbourne was a decent enough player, but he's gone to Wolves for the money, because in football terms, whichever way you look at it, he's taken a step backwards. Do we want to keep a player who is willing to sacrifice his career for more money and is desperate to go? I'd say definitely not and the club have done the right thing by getting as much money as they can for him.

The worry I have about re-signing the players from last season

is how many of them still have the desire to improve? How many have reached their peak last season and will struggle to maintain that level of performance? For me Goldbourne, on his day, was a really good left back, but I wonder if we've seen the best of him in that period immediately after Xmas? On Tuesday his heart wasnt in it, the 3rd goal was a shocker and probably hastened his departure.

Flitcroft has to quickly work out who's still got the desire to improve and who's likely to go backwards, get 11 on the pitch who want it, ship the others out and replace, if possible.

    From the article:

"Jackett believes can fully realise his potential on the biggest stage of his career so far."

League 1. Really? The journos that follow the so called sleeping giants in English football need a reality check.

Any of those fees are great business, not used to have our pants pulled up in these situations.

    Precisely.

I see us as a sleeping giant, that hasn't fully grown yet, nor been to sleep.

Wonder if he wanted to leave or was pushed out. Not seen press reports saying either way and you usually do.

Wanted to leave according to Flicker..Wolves apprached a while back and golbourne turned it down flat..than had a change of heart and wanted to go,perhaps that has shown in his poor performances this season.

He was probably annoyed at the manager for talking him up as a two million pound player only to let his contract dwindle into it's final 12 months after not being offered an extension in the summer and then being played out of position so someone like Kennedy who's not as good as him can play in his natural left back position.

He definitely wanted to leave. Brought about the transfer himself I'm led to believe.

I can believe it. I'm sure if in the summer Flicker had said something like "Scott I really rate you and here is a two year extension to be our natural left back" he probably would have signed. If you are talked up in public and then nothing is done to stop your contract length going below a year left you've gotta start thinking of your future.

I don't think so. I think he's gone for a load more cash.

Too right. I'd have taken half that.

I just hope whatever the fee is, it's mostly up front because if Wolves don't go up this season I can see them going into admin.
