Got married at Lake Tahoe (north Nevada) on the moutainside above the lake (Logan Shoals Vista Point if anyone wants to look it up). The paperwork took a couple of hours and the entire wedding cost about £200. Doubt you could find anywhere nicer to do the deed.

Went to my sister's wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs in Canada at Christmas. Absolutely amazingly mindblowing place, just close family and it was perfect for them.

However, it wouldn't have worked for us. We got married at Kenwood Hall in Sheffield, much more modest venue but it was perfect for us, because we had all our friends and family there.

Really depends on what you and your partner want from the experience.

Been to Lake Tahoe and it's a truly stunning part of the world. Did some skiing at Heavenly as well as some snow mobiling and its a hell of a view of the lake from up the mountain. The town itself is a little weird with the Casinos on one side of the state line and the low level buildings on the California side.

We got married at Disney Florida. Absolutely perfect, stayed in the Grand Floridian and didn't have to worry about a thing as it was all organised fantastically. On the plus side if she does leave you afterwards you can always claim the wedding null and void, I mean come on .... Mickey & Minnie as witnesses? (I still live in hope I will be able to use this argument :))

I was there 2 days ago with the mother-in-law. Having said that, it's only an hour's drive from where I live. Spectacular place for a wedding, as is Chateau Lake Louise, about half an hour from Banff.

Absolutely stunning place Calgary Tyke. Just seeing your user name takes me back. Stayed there twice now, both times for Christmas. It's like a winter wonderland when its all done up. Went snow shoe walking on Lake Louise too. Amazing part of the world and definitely my favourite hotel

I got married in Lindos in Rhodes at a place called St Paul's bay, a truly beautiful place, certainly worth a look anyhow.

Must have been cold at Christmas - although not as bad as at the end of January. But I cannot think of a more idyllic place that I have been to - Lake Louise brings tears to my eyes every time I am there as it was my Mum's favourite place in the world (and she traveled pretty extensively). I believe it has been named as one of the top 10 places you have to visit before you die - and I understand why. Stunning.

Didn't stay in the hotel at Lake Louise but the setting is fantastic.

Got down as low as minus 18 in Banff. Swimming in the outdoor (heated!) pool was a bizarre experience! Ooooh I'm getting all nostalgic.

Got married in Vegas. We didn't have anyone with us as no one knew we were getting married, not even my wife. Well, I suppose I didn't either as she could have said no.

We went on a road trip around California, Nevada and Arizona and I planned to ask her while we were out there and get married. On the Tuesday we climbed Mount Whitney (highest mountain in the continental USA) to Lone Pine Lake, where I asked her to marry me. The next day we spent in Death Valley and the day after we were married in Las Vegas.

The marriage licence cost us 50 dollars and the civil service another 50. Took about an hour and half from getting in the taxi to get the licence to the service finishing. We walked up to Fremont Street and drank beers then caught a bus down the strip to drink cocktails and champagne and eat a meal in The Venetian.

When we got home my dad threw us a bit of a party and we were taken out for a meal by my wife's parents and my mum.

We had no stress, very little financial outlay, we didn't have to worry for a second what anyone else wanted or anyone else's hang ups, we just did it our way and had a fantastic day. I don't regret it for a second.

    My wife got married abroad

She married me in Barnsley Register Office in 2000. She particularly enjoyed the reception and evening party in the Legends Suite at Oakwell. I'm sure she would recommend getting married abroad.

Ha nice one mate, I got married in Vegas as well.

Little White Chapel and had The Hokey Cokey as our wedding march, the traditional stag night before was fun as well!

Beyond those rocks on the far side of the lake it's a half mile drop in to the valley, and we were only half way up. The walk up there is amazing - pine forests, wild flower meadows, waterfalls, chipmunks, humming birds, butterflies the size of bats. Adventurous types go all the way to the top, but that's a two day job and requires a permit and an uncomfortable night camping out on the rocks. And just to take the romance out of the situation, you've got to **** in a bag and bring it back down with you.
