From twitter @Walkerpw: Steve Evans also confirms that K Odejayi was close to joining Accrington on loan, "one things for sure, he won't play here again" #RUFC
Those figures don't tell the whole story; his strike rate with us makes it difficult to believe he got so many games.
To me he was exactly the player that Barnsley have always needed. We conceed more goals in the last 5 minutes to either loose drawing games or draw winning games. If you bring Kayode on with 15 minutes to go and you're one nil up - sit him on the centre spot he's that fast and strong every opposition is going to stick three defenders on him and not get to build the pressure up that we always have been suckered be - no matter who the manager. No manager is Barnsley's history has solved that problem - Evidence from Blackpool looks like Flickers just as prone - but lets hope that was a one off. Kayode was the answer to our last minute colleywobbles - worth 20 points a season to Barnsley that is.
To be fair though, by all accounts Steve Evans is a total lovely person who could fall out with his own reflection!
I saw him score twice in one game for us and I bet there arent more than around 300 others who can say the same. I am pretty sure I saw ( and can remember ) all the goals he scored in nearly 80 appearences but I am struggling to remember one of them 1 V s****horpe where he ran through and calmly slotted past their keeper - one of his first games. I thought we had signed a decent striker at that point .... so I wont get too excited about Pederson on just one goal just yet 1 Fa cup v Chelsea which everyone remembers 2 V watford the game after that wembly miss according to soccerbase he actually scored 4 league goals and the chelsea cup game so I am missing one - anyone not as senile as me remember who that was against
We should remember him for the Chelsea goal as without that we would never have got to Wembley and him fluff the one on one. We would more than likely ave drawn with Chelsea and lost the replay imo
And before he scored at Watford he had an identical 1 on 1 against the keeper, only this time he blasted it into the crowd! He perserverec though and was unlucky not to get his hat trick in the end.
I have vivid memories of travelling back from losing semi final at Wembley, sat in Kings Cross station thinking the world was ending! We were deep in relegation trouble and next game was Watford away and I'm thinking that there is no way that we can get out of his now. Kayode then scores two, we win and ultimately avoid relegation. Yes Kayode was more cold than hot, but he did score a few very important goals for BFC and we need to remember that.
