We couldn't pass the ball well in 1990, we just had players who played with their heart and had a few gifted players
Lambert the perfect striker for this team, to make the most of Gerrard and the central defenders hopeful punts forward. Should have played Neil Shipperley...
Shocking 2nd half. They weren't much better though. Poor all round after the break. Was impressed with their left winger.
Couldn't pass Blimey ! I don't remember it that way myself. We had a decent side from 1986 to 1998 except for the Taylor wilderness years. If England could take penalties I honestly believe that a World Cup in 1990 and a euro in 1996 would have been in their grasp.
all went wrong when we hounded Glenn Hoddle out of the job, he was coaching the players to a level they haven't been since. Absolute disgrace that he was overlooked for the under 21's job in favour of Southgate!
It's the first England match I've watched for ages, and the last. Totally devoid of any talent whatsoever, no better than an average championship side, thanks to the FA selling their soul for the Murdoch money. Until the premier league implodes and English football starts to build from the bottom we will never do anything at international level. I'm afraid that at 64 years of age I will not see a successfull England side in my life time.
It may have been a poor attacking performance but we did the job we needed to. I thought Cahill did well.
How did sky giving lots of money to top level football clubs result in Milner not being good enough? Sorry but I don't see it.
I didn't mention Milner, I said the WHOLE team was devoid of talent, due in no small part to the amount of foreign players playing for our top teams preventing the development of our younger players. Just my opinion.
