Best Barnsley pub by a mile. Hundreds of years old, full of character, decent beer, decent people in it (with the exception of @Young Nudger, of course!). When you live overseas, the Old No.7 is exactly the kind of pub you crave.

But then again, some people like samey, dreary, soul-less pubs...........

First voted by Barnsley CAMRA members as pub of the year for the branch. Then that goes forward to the regional finals, eventually was down to a shortlist of 7 and each one visited by a Yorkshire CAMRA rep and marked.

    Cracking pub IMHO.

The other competition must have been f.ucking w.ank pubs for that dump to win.

Unless the award was for the worst smelling pub then it fully deserves the award.

Apart from the fact the ale is hit and miss with regards to quality and the fact the pub stinks worse than a blocked drain in a barracks well done.

It doesn't even serve best pint of acorn in barnsley.

It's no cooincidence WSB start using it as our 'meeting' base and it wins 2 CAMRA awards!

Not that we're taking any credit;-)

Well done Mick n team! They've been really good to us.

Old No.7's best pub in town, best atmosphere and folk. I also played a gig downstairs there once which was great and bumped into my wife there too!

Its CAMRA Regional Pub of the Year which means you'd think the main criteria for winning would be the real ale quality which in the No7's case is not consistantly excellent ,in my opinion.Having said that its still the best real ale pub in Barnsley although there isn't much competition. When CAMRA pick a pub like The Baum in Rochdale as national champion you know there is something wrong with their selection process, The Baum in many ways is like the No7 inconsistant on beer quality but a friendly run of the mill boozer.

With its wonderfully sticky carpets, toothless crones and 20 minute queues....good for a laugh at Christmas though
