It's all about opinions of course (think they're just about allowed still) but when either fans or the media rave about certain musicians or bands, you just think "what the bloody hell are they talking about - he/they're crap". My list:- U2 Nirvana Red Hot Chili Peppers The Doors 99% of British indie bands Anyone nominated for the Mercury Prize.
Oasis. Utter fecking sh!te. Emporers new clothes if I ever saw it. Smiths - Dreary moaning dull boring crud.
Never understood the attraction to the Smiths Any modern day boy band really, all signing very similar songs, which the boy bands of the 00's sang, which they ripped from the boy bands of the 90's etc etc. Boring music for 14 year old girls.
Do people really "rate" boy bands though? Young lasses go mad for them but they are more interested in the individuals and the image rather than the music.
Oasis. I'm not saying they're **** because they're not. A few of their early songs were very well written, the majority is just decent rock and roll. I completely understand why people like decent rock and roll music, but on any given Saturday night there are a few hundred bands playing decent rock and roll music up and down the country. I don't understand why it was Oasis that jumped out of the pack. Although I must admit Noel Gallagher is definitely good for a quote. The kind of band whose big London date at the end of the tour should have been Brixton Academy not selling out Knebworth 5 times over.
