Jamie Ward from Chesterfield was a fairly recent one for us. Not that he's a world beater mind.

Jordan Rhodes isn't really one. He had to leave the club as he was underage to stay here without parents as his dad got the job at Ipswich.

we sold him for 5k if memory serves me correct, Clarke said he would never make a footballer. LOL.

A fair few years after,I went to watch a good friend playing for Leek town @ Gainsboro, said friends dad who was an ex player at well,so was my friend.
Had been asked to run the rule over Tony Bullock,he ask me what i thought after the game.We signed Bullock a few days later.
David speedie was player/manager at Gainsboro at the time and retired from playing cause he said the refs had it in for him. He had been sent off 6 times in 12 games.
We had a good chat with him after the game.

He turned us down because , during the opening match of the season he was sub for West Ham , he started warming up in front of the West Stand and was told very loudly " Get thissen set darn lad, yer gret ugly lovely person" The crowd around there then started chanting "Ugly, Ugly lovely person, Ugly Ugly lovely person". That is what he told Wilson apparently! I know that they did call him that at that match, because I was sat 2 seats away from the fella that shouted it!
Ward was a far better player anyway .
