After many years of the same old same old.........most fans expected something different this season..............but its not

The higher you build them up...........the harder it is when they fall

Lets look at the facts (slightly boring):

    06/07 - 20th
    07/08 - 18th
    09/10 - 18th
    10/11th - 17th
    11/12th - 21st
    12th/13th - 21st
    13th/14th - 22nd

I predicted we would finish comfortably away from a relegation scrap at 15th/16th, and I will stand by that.

What people don't realize, is that would be our biggest achievement in 8 years. Certainly boost Flicker's CV, who I think is an outstanding manager.

Nudge, I'm fully expecting a bottom half finish, this season......but I know we will improve over last season.

Best finish so far under Robins which we will not beat this season. Shame we replaced him with such a useless and odious ****.

Flicker is, and will, over time, prove to be a far better manager than Robins.

    That's my opinion.

Robins had to spend a lot of cash on Premier League signings to pull it round though.

Yes and until we spend a few bob again, or keep our better players, then we will continue to be around the relegation places. Id just like us to be a bit more ambitious and keep the likes of Stones instead of biting the hands off a bidder as soon as they offer a few quid

Think both managers pulled us out of a hole, Flicker with 34 points in the last 21 games last season and Robins getting 32 points from his first 21 games after taking over from Davey who had 1 point in 5 games.

Both deserve credit and did at the time get it now Robins seems to be a pariah and what he did is glossed over, wonder if the same will happen to Flicker further down the line.

    That's a fair point.

I think looking at Robins career he's proved to be a good manager. His requests that went to Cryne will have been what I imagine Flitcroft wanted (and got) this pre season.

Imagine where we'd have been if we could've provided them 2 years ago?

Aye Ritchie for not spending enough and Robins for wanting more, its all about faces fitting with those in charge.

How many Premier League signings did he make?

I thought the myth about Robins's overspending was blown out of the water months ago.

Robins needs plenty of money thrown at him to be average. Flicker would beat him hands down with the same money available. Robins chucked dummy out of pram, and you caught it, then just chucked it out. Get real, we cannot afford the millions Robins needs to manage, and get behind the team and management, like Cryne .

What "millions" did he spend when he was at Oakwell? Please don't say Garry O'Connor as we got all that money back.

same millions he had at Rotherham and Coventry both bancrupt clubs and in real trouble. Ive no idea why he has this this reputation amongst our fans.

My only complaint with Robins was the style of football. There is no doubt in my mind he is a good manager and will outperform many others under the same constraints

I think the style of football was appropriate for the situation. Definitely for his first season anyway. There were some performances under Robins that Hill could not even dream of.

Completely the opposite. A grafter, nippy and worked hard. Goran 'Champions League' Lovre is possibly the worst signing we've made in the last 10 years.

Robins brought some good players in. The problem we had was the majority of the signings folk quote as his best were on loan. That's why when Keith took over he had to start again but SIGN PERMANENT players on the same budget Robins had the season before. But you and Conan know and ignore that.

There were some Adam Hammill performances under Robins that Hill might have dreamed of.

Can I just ask, serious question, where you happy when Robins was in charge? I only ask because I would say most posters tend to be quite consistent. I defended Robins to the hilt in the past, even though I found his brand of football mind-numbling dour, believing stability is hugely important for us and that he generally was doing a good job. Just wondering whether you were a 'happy-clapper' under Robins and then changed to be so, shall i say, ultra-realist, since?
