Stupid football chants

Is there any worse than the current "He scores when he wants" chant, watching the Southampton v West Ham match yesterday and when Vaz Te came on the West Ham fans were singing "Ricardo Vaz Te, he scores when he wants"....just a shame he didn't want to score yesterday then and we wouldn't have had a goalless draw!

 

We're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen...

The scab chants I heard at the weekend by kids who weren't even born during Scargill's failed attack on democracy.

sorry but that's a really waaay too simplistic view, Thatcher was a cow and did places no end oh harm, but my lads never been out of work, because he's a grafter took his education seriously got on with his life picked a vocation where he had a chance and thrived. Yes its harder but theres way too many out there that can't be bothered

 

Doesn't mean people close to them within their family weren't affected. I wasn't born during either of the world wars but that time still means something for me enough to appreciate Rememberance Sunday.

 

Yeah, I'm sure the subtext of those chants were: "Boo! We could have been working darn t' pit for 10+ hours a day if you nasty Forest fans families had shown some solidarity with an unelected union baron (who has done strangely well for himself financially). Scabs indeed."

 

Not everyone is as lucky as your lad with supportive parents and probably a good home and good luck to him.
But when I was young the mines, steele works ,glass works etc didn't need all these certificates etc they took on lads and gave them a chance and a lot of them took that chance and built a good life for themselves, some of them have never had or never will have academical skills Some of the same people would not get a chance today scandalous imo

By the way, I'm not belittling the devastating impact that this period of history genuinely had on many people. I just think that some people are too keen to blame others and take no individual responsibility for their lives. Shouting scab is a silly chant.

 

Maybe their dads were and they were the ones who had to queue up for free school dinners?
