Not a huge change in the team. So why are they faffing about just now? The form, points/game shown in the latter half of last season was Play Off form. I am just mystified at the start to this season.
Re: so what has majorly changed this season, compared to the last half of last season Injuries sendings off...get everyone back and judge it then.
Re: so what has majorly changed this season, compared to the last half of last season I believe we need to press teams more, particularly in mid field.
I will ask you a question. I trust your judgement totally, as I hope you know. you and Jay are about the only two I read and digest. Most of the others are perhaps at best struggling with dermatitis and bed wetting, so In ignore. So my question is this, do you see a huge turn around, and if so will it come soon enough. Or do you think we will be sweating to the end yet again? Oh and in the words of the song "Tell Laura I love her" lol, how's she doing at UNI mate.
Re: I will ask you a question. I trust your judgement totally, as I hope you know. Lack of creativity in midfield (Mellis), certain other 'ballers' not altogether trusted to start regularly (RNL, Cywka, Jennings), and an ever-changing and porous defence. That, and constant formation changes. Oh, and the opposition have been better than us in most games.
Re: I will ask you a question. I trust your judgement totally, as I hope you know. We have a team that can score goals, but a defence still leaking them. In that sense we have made progress as last season we needed to fix everything. Sort the defence and we'll be reyt.
Being an eternal optimist Who is always wearing his rose tinted spectacles, my opinion has little, if any, credibility. However, I believe it will not take much to turn things round. A couple of victories on the bounce could quickly see the self belief and confidence return. Once it does, other factors such as injuries & suspensions will cease to be as problematic as they are at present. They'll become reduced to minor irritants which are comfortably overcome. Also, players such as Cranie, Nyatanga, Jennings & McCourt will soon hopefully all be up to speed and offer other options to the manager. Then there's the young lads like Digby, RNL, Clark, Cofie & Rose (for example) who could also be looking to press forward their claims for selection. It takes a bit more than an unimpressive run of form to get me running about doing a Chicken Licken impersonation. We took Laura to uni on Sunday and she appears to have settled in very quickly, much to our surprise. We met the kids she's living with and they all seem to be decent folk. The house seems empty now, though, without the kids and with Crystal out working.
Re: I will ask you a question. I trust your judgement totally, as I hope you know. Well, I say. If I ever posted anything meaningful about football I'd be offended.
I still think that in spite of the revolving door re managers... ... as long as I can remember in good times or bad Barnsley have often come unstuck when trying to hang on to a lead.... They could always score but I always had a sense of unease when we went on 2-0 up at HT. You could almost guarantee we would end up stuck in our own area and compressed into final third of the park with no outlet. One of my abiding memories of my years at Oakwell was the guy two rows back and a couple of seats away in ESL who had Clive Dunn from Dad's Army off to a tee. The number of times he would be yelling " DON'T PANIC CAPTAIN MAINWARING" in the last 20 minutes or so when we were hoiking it upfield for it to come straight back in our direction and looked 'all at sea' after having dominated play for most of the match Whilst you expect a team who are losing to come at you in the second half....Jeez .....its a simple game... if you had 65% possession in the 1st half and are on top and all over them why change tactics and try (and usually fail) to defend the lead. I know the above is a generalisation but, as I said it is one of my abiding memories from my many years watching the reds. Seems nothing really changes.
Re: so what has majorly changed this season, compared to the last half of last season I do not think some people on this forum realise just how many changes have occurred at Barnsley Football club. The whole set up in the building has been reorganised to make it acceptable for visitors and players. The coaching staff, Academy etc has all been reorganised. The whole scouting system has reverted back to scouting outbye of Barnsley. There has been wholesale changes in just about everything to do with the club. New people in to run and organise. New methods and ways of getting to matches to suit distance. This is all part of Flickers plan to bring Barnsley up to scratch and impress players etc when they see what is on offer. This along with his dream, helped by his assistants, to develop us into a club to be respected. There are lots of other changes but too long to discuss everything. So lay off the Flicker and get behind his dream and plan for our club. He needs our support and backing not criticising. Rome was not built in a day. We have had an hard fixture beginning and we still have over the next couple weeks, judge after season is half way
