Whilst part of me likes flicker, part of me sees too much of Keith Hill inside him. Flicker doesnt know his best 11, doesnt play players in their correct position, and plays tactics which are poor and doesnt adapt to situations. Its time he started simplifying his tactics, stop talking "synergy, Weve got a plan", etc... and stop playing players who arent good enough. Why play Dagnall who cant score, give the other strikers a chance. Why play Dawson and Perkins together. Dawson also isnt a winger, give one of our wingers a chance. With the new chairman and chief exec things are changing for the better and i think maybe its time we got a new manager using their contacts or influence.
Agree with everything you state. Why bring in McCourt if were not going to give him game time? Same can be said of Cofie. Sooner give Danny Rose a go rather than Daggers and Dawson is League 1 at best.Much too negative with tactics last night. Very Worried now
You cant post anything wrong about flicker on here. He saved us last year. Saving last year out weighs all the ***** from this season. It doesn't matter that he continues to play all grafters and no flair. doesn't matter that we have tricky wingers but flicker plays dawson Its doesn't matter that we have this young cofie lad scoring for fun int he reserves but we play a guy up front who is slow and cant score, then replace him with a slower guy who has stopped scoring. Flicker saved us last year, stop being negative, he'll turn it around, the signs are there....somewhere
He DID save us last season Which is why we're playing Watford at home in the Championship this Saturday and not MK Dons in Division 1, like Peterborough are. It means the club can work to a bigger budget and is in a healthier financial state than had we been relegated. However, if we're discounting what was achieved last season as irrelevant and consigned to history, then anyone advocating the removal of Flitcroft as manager is doing so after seven league games. If that is achieved, how long is the new manager going to be allowed? Four games? Five? By all means criticise the manager's record this season on results, style of play, formation, player selection. But to discount what he did last season is totally illogical and appears to me to be self serving for a personal agenda. However, after the last twenty four hours, we can finally dispense with the myth that no one has demanded the sacking or removal of the manager, either immediately or in a unilaterally concocted timetable with specific criteria having to be met (again, being unilaterally concocted). I, for one, am standing alongside David Flitcroft. It is my belief he will turn things round and we'll begin to move up the table. If that puts me in a minority, so be it.
Re: He DID save us last season I very much doubt that standing alongside Flicker puts you in a minority Kev - and your points about last season are perfectly valid. I am as frustrated as anyone over the way we have started this season but we are a long long way from even contemplating a new manager yet. Its also my belief that Flicker and team will turn things round but its really quite frustrating just at the moment.
Re: He DID save us last season I think we have been playing some players this season that aren't up to the standard of what we want to achieve, mainly due to injuries, although there have been a few strange choices too. I would say that if we are wanting to move forwards and up the league the following shouldn't be first choice first teamers - M'Voto, Kennedy, O'Brien, Dawson, Dagnall. A fully fit defensive four of Wiseman, Crainie, Ramage and Nyatanga, or add Noble-Lazarus and play wing backs and we should have our best defence. We haven't been able to play our best defence at any point this season. Up front O'Grady and Pedersen would be first choices and they gave Huddersfield a lot of problems in the one game they have managed to start together. I think that Flicker should be looking at alternatives to Daggers to partner COG though, but he knows this and apparently deals have been agreed to bring Fryatt and Sharp to Oakwell, but there's not a lot Flicker can do if they don't want to come here. Maybe in the short term give Rose or Cofie a tryout. It's midfield where the problem lies, as there's not much creativity or link up with the striker(s). Perkins and Etuhu should be enough in the middle of the park if we play 4-4-2, as we have wide players in McCourt, Jennings, Noble-Lazarus and Cywka who can provide a bit more of an attacking threat. If we go 5-3-2 then Mellis should be played behing the front two, as he's the only player who can comfortably play that position. Mellis was great in pre-season, but hasn't been at his best in the league. Then again, he hasn't been played in his best position much either. Players like Dawson and JOB are good to have on the bench if we need to run a game down. Daggers fits that description too. Problems is, that would leave us with little on the bench if we are trying to chase a game. We can't rely on Scotland to keep coming off the bench and scoring, as he will only score if someone creates chances for him. If we are looking to bring someone in, a creative attacking midfielder would be my first choice, providing we can get our defenders fit. But it's easy being a football manager whilst sat typing into a computer isn't it!
In all honesty, Dave I don't think I'm in a minority. The pain and frustration which goes hand in hand with a poor run is not the sole domain of the permanently lugubrious. We all feel it.
Well said fella.(Biglil) Flitcroft is not beyond criticism but to even consider him being removed of his position is pure madness.
I dont think he should be sacked, but its pathetic how everyone jumps on someone who dare criticise him. Just becuase someone dare to criticise Flicker. Hes making mistake after mistake, he may get it right and turn the corner, but it seems anyone who doesn't bow to him on her gets abuse
