The most important area of the park. Creates chances for strikers. Takes the pressure off defenders. Needs to be balanced and currently it's not. If he doesn't sort it out he'll lose his job. And I, like most on here, want him to keep his job.

I would say Mellis is that man but he's either dangerously inconsistent or played out of position. what we need to do imo is drop one of Daws or Perks and play more than one creative midfield player be it Mellis & McCourt/Jennings etc.

I would play Etuhu as a holding midfielder protecting the back 4

RNL and Jennings left and right, quite narrow to the middle but with instruction to go wide when needed.(like an inside left and inside right)

then Mellis orCywka if fit, or Perkins just behind the front 2 providing the creativity. Perkins to me isnt a defensive midfielder and can be our creative spark

2 forwards COG and when fit Pederson,if not Scotland starting and Dagnall ready to enter the fray in last 25 minutes.

If Perkins is anything he's a defensive midfielder, although I do accept he's occasionally effective when running at defenders. I was more thinking of the type of player who has vision, can pass, and carries a goal threat. Jacob Butterfield in fact.
