And had either of those 2 chances we had at the beginning gone in and not hit the woodwork, who knows what the score might have been. Keep the faith, our luck WILL change on Saturday.
I'd back myself to score that Dawson chance. Came out at him too fast, no chance to steady himself my arse.
He did well to strike the 3" wide post and not the 8 yard wide open net. Perkins wants dry ******* for that pratting about in our area as well. Comfort. Zone.
Agreed, those commentators were talking out of their arse an all. I thought he was 2 yd out and it had come straight at him....
Not wanting to be overly critical but surely there is a time and a place to play football in a game, i think it was on around 56 seconds in, Perkins faffing around the with ball in our penalty area, for me he should have hooked it clear down field, it's easier to defend from the front and reorganise at the back than it is trying to pass your way out of trouble when surrounded by 3 players. It's the simple stuff we seem to be failing on time after time. Flicker, Micky and Martin Scott need to have a sit down and go right back to the basics and fix all the schoolboy errors out first and finding a stable formation that suits the players we currently have available. Hopefully when McCourt, Nyatanga are match fit etc we will see some changes, a midfield of Perkins and Dawson is too narrow and doesn't offer enough to the forward players imo, it should be Perks or Daws for me not both. We need to find our feet fast and get going quickly, we're not ten games in yet so there are still plenty of points to play for. Keep the faith, it's not all over yet. You Reds.
I like Perkins, but he doesn't half get caught in possession a lot. If there was ever a time for Dave Bassett's cows arses and banjos quote to be resurrected, it's now and it needs directing squarely at Stephen Dawson.
I hope that when McCourt, Nyatanga, Jennings et al are up to speed we'll see some changes but I fear that we won't. A combination of certain fixtures in the side, a defensive midfield in a 4-4-2 and a narrow midfield in a wing back system leaves me thinking the widemen will be wasted/out of position/not picked.
I said the same on here after the Charlton game and l was pulled to pieces. He takes two touches when one would suffice, slows a lot of our play down at times. On the other hand he's class at breaking up the oppositions play.
I was beginning to think I had misremembered with some of the comments about how hard a chance it was- glad to see I am not quite as senile as I thought. Just my eyesight as at the time I couldnt tell whether it was Dawson or Polish Tom but it was clearly a tap in
