Lost the plot. Because this is nothing like the BFC I witnessed for 4 months under him last season. I can't believe I am saying this, but the similarities between him and Keith (in the period leading up to his dismissal) are scary. But why is this? Why, after that amazing finale and the optimism during the Summer has he self imploded, seemingly ruining his reputation and took us back to the football and tactics dished up by Keith? Why? . I'm confused by it, never mind angry. I thought he was Keith's sidekick and I was glad to be proven wrong last season. But that has gone, and he can't fall back on it when we are getting regularly dry loved home and away. Worrying time.
i'm in the same boat whitey. very confused. the pragmatist in me is looking for a logical explanation. why would you stop doing everything that worked, and start doing everything that you stopped? very puzzling. my personal view, fwiw, is that in the pursuit of 'not wanting to scrap', he's tried to execute a broader strategy, and in the process made far too many changes. all of which have horribly backfired. he's probably now in a place where he genuinely doesn't know what to do for the best. my prediction is he'll ditch the master plan and go back to the fighting strategy that got us out of the $hit last season.
What I don't get is, he's not the same man as was last season. Last season from the start we played a settled formation, a settled team and players knew there roles. Now we have a midfield which no one seems to know there role, Dawson will never be upto the standard we require. Etuhu did what we need from him but was let down by the others not knowing there role.
Good tubthumper in time of need but now seems lost. Wouldn't surprise to see him go - really like the guy but seems completely out of his depth at the minute . Dawson and kennedy - really don't know what to say about these two - should not be allowed near the shirt again
Perfect description. I always wondered whether the back end of last season, wonderful though it was, was simply a successful execution of tub thumping with no real tactical acumen behind it. Tub thumping can work wonders for a short period of time but it is not a long term recipe for success.
We need the team back that played from Jan to May. Up and at em chase every lost cause not this containing football
I said exactly the same today YT and as well as being disappointed and disillusioned I am also angry because I really like Flicker and he is going to get himself sacked. FFS Flicker, wake up and smell the coffee before its too late.
The whole negative turnaround seems illogical. The only answer I have is that I think he got carried away with the success. That speech after the Huddersfield finale... about changing the club and the perception, treating the players better etc... I just wonder if he's tried to press ahead too much too quickly. The pressing and battling seems to have turned into passing around and sitting off, perhaps Flicker rates the side too highly and has forgot that it was only the battling that saved us last season. It's the same team basically, you cannot just expect them to step up and comfortably compete. I think Flicker expected them to.
