Thought we created more chances. Lazarus gave us summat different at free kicks rather than the floated balls into the box. Flicker made the right substitutions having set up all wrong to start with. Dawson being subbed never thought it would happen. Saw a glimpse of what McCourt could bring to the party and also what he wont. Scotland up front with O`Grady. I came away disappointed at the scoreline but with a bit of hope that things may change.
The 8 Newkie Browns I drank at the time. Scotland did well RNL very good cameo needs to be playing in whatever position week in week out. McCourt looked skilful and incisive That's it really.
Enjoyed the company of barnsly66. Meeting Arabian Ian again. Sitting with Jay. Enjoying the contribution of RNL and McCourt. The weather, which has continued on to today.
Noticed that JOB is really trying to whip his crosses in rather than floaty ones for the goalkeeper to pluck out of the air.
The Watford fans' singing was quite good. Just "Watford Watford" over and over but it was really nice and tuneful.
That I wasn't there. The quality of the boxing at the Copper Box made up for it though, and the ticket upgrade to the front row.
the hangover wasn't as severe as it could have been this morning which means the drinking can continue, best result of the weekend for me
Second half performance if we take away the the two gaffs by Perkins. O'Brien on the right, Noble Lazarus on the left and McCourt behind the front two gave us some real attacking options although Watford had definitely taken their foot off the gas. Seeing Scotland start a game instead of Dagnall was a massive plus and I wasn't surprised to see him score. Chatting at the game and being able to offer criticism without being jumped on and told you're not a proper fan like what can happen all too often on here. We're all season ticket holders around where I sit, we've all got Barnsley FC running through our blood and we all want the best for them. There's never any booing and only the occasional shout if someone really fcuks up. Most of the time it's clapping and cajoling. But we do talk about the game and if we play like we did in the first half there's some piss taking, some funny comments and some criticism of the manager, the tactics and the players. All done in a friendly way and all done with the best interests of the club at heart. Proper football supporters talking like they have always done. Do that on here and some people genuinely believe you're bringing the club down, that you're the enemy within and that there's something deeply wrong with your character. Doesn't seem to me like there's anything wrong with the character of the people that sit around me. We've all been sat there since the new Ponty opened more or less. It's a joy being at the match, win or lose. It can be a real pain in the arse on here as you have to watch everything you say in case some nutter blames the club's failing squarely on your shoulders. Either that or you get invited under the East Stand. Beer in the Ponty. Finally. Another reason to attend even when we're utter garbage as at least you can nip down stairs for a drink.
This perfectly sums up the people where we sit. It plays a huge part in why I always love & enjoy going to Oakwell, even when the performances and results (like this season) are less than spectacular.
