    Definitely.

    I think people would be more disciplined with their studies the older they get. When you're eighteen and away from home for the first time it is far too easy to get distracted.

    In all seriousness it's the making of any young person to go to University. The sensible ones will make the most of it but will enjoy themselves along the way. In my first term I was sick more times than I have been in the rest of my life but I still passed gloriously and being a bit of sad git I never missed a single lecture.

    Laura appears to have settled in really well, touchwood. Daft as it's sounds, she's already sounding far more relaxed, confident and happier than my wife and I dared hope.

    I think the first couple of weeks are the most important because if you get some mates straight away it takes the pressure off and gives the opportunity to meet more people.

    Laura's been painfully shy and introverted all her life, which is why we were concerned. The group she's sharing with are a decent set and have really helped her settle in. We're hoping you're right and she continues enjoying this new stage in her life.

    Yes, but in their case it seems to me to be a bit of a misnomer. Their flats go under the name of 'The Village'.

    Best thing to do in my opinion. Easiest way to meet people and even if you are a bit shy you find that people go out of their to speak to you.
