Re: I'm not amongst them Even when we haven't, the clamour for the manager to be sacked doesn't take long to rear it's head when we've gone on a poor run.
Re: I'm not amongst them No and he NEVER WILL !! I made my stand and I will never back down over it !
Re: I'm not amongst them Having read this board over the last few weeks and spoken to mates at matches there aren't that many who want a change of manager... After 6 defeats in 8 league games there are bound to be a few who want a change but most reasonable folk accept that he deserves a lot longer to prove himself. I'm all for giving him the whole season and wouldn't necessarily want a change even if we went down. Donny went down and have come back stronger, so it wouldn't be a complete disaster... He's a very young manager in terms of experience and is still learning the job. This is his first big crisis/challenge and let's see how he deals with it. My only complaint is he seems to talk too much; less of the family and love crap for me and more action on the pitch, but it seemed to work for this lot last season...
Me neither Not impressed by team selection and tactics, but that's a long way from wanting the manager sacked. And to be fair to Flicker, although I don't think his team selections have done him any favours, some of the players he thought he could rely on have let him down. Perkins was Mr reliable last season, but he's been dreadful recently. Unlike Dawson, he is playing in his proper position. Etuhu isn't up to speed yet. Just about everyone he has selected in defence have made terrible mistakes. Nothing to do with the system, poor individual errors. I don't think Flicker is getting it right, but I don't think he could legislate for how poorly some of his players are performing. Players that really shone in the second half of last season. We're crap at the moment, I don't think that automatically means you should sack your manager.
Re: Me neither I'm beginning to think a shapeshifter has taken over Flicker's body because how he can't see how ineffectual Dawson is on the right just highlights how much he doesn't seem to have a clue, especially when we have players who can do a much better job there even if they themselves aren't at their most comfortable out wide. We're conceding too many goals because our midfield don't take the ball forward enough and it doesn't matter if you've got Puyol and Kompany in defence - if the midfield keep exposing the defenders, any team is going to score goals against them.
8 games is nothing, WAY too early to be even considering a change, as above I'm not surprised but disappointed people are leaning that way. If he was the man for the job 8 games ago he's got to be given a fair crack of the whip and a change in the pattern of a new manager every 18 months.
Has anyone noticed that last season, when we were winning and everyone was smiling, we had only one master tactician. Now this year when we're losing we have 200. It wouldn't be that bad, except there are 200 different teams and almost as many formations. The only thing they are all agreed upon is if you stamp your feet and paddy and shout we want it to be like last year, or the manager gets it, then everything will be all right. Funny thing is, they are doing exactly the same over at Hillsborough. Good job we aren't massive like them.
