I think he should try this midfield

    Jennings on the right
Mellis and McCourt in the middle
    RNL on the left

Now that will excite me, and plenty of others surely? Tricks and skill by the bucket load. Pile driving shots coming in from RNL. What's not to like?

Forget all this tracking back and defensive responsibilities stuff. The DEFENDERS can get their act together and take care of that - we have enough quality back there to sort things out. I just want a midfield that worries the opposition, not one that runs backwards and sideways and gets laughed at by the other side as they pass them out of the game

Interesting idea. Certainly very attacking but worried about work rate and defensive cover. Is there some middle ground here. Perkins instead of Mellis or McCourt? I think we'd get overrun in the middle.

Ok - fair point - I revise to 'I think we'd get even more totally overrun in the middle' :)

I agree. Conceding five would become the ‘halcyon days of our scrooge like defence’ if we played with that midfield.

With that midfield we'd be begging for the days when we used to only conceed 5 goals.

You could shove Perkins or Etuhu in there and play with just O'Grady up front, in other words 4 5 1.

I'm thinking attack being the best form of defence so if we get four or five and only concede three then.......job done!

Not sure about this team but I don't recall any of Danny Wilson's sides being particularly defensive in midfield.
