Still first name on my team sheet. At this time you need someone with a bit of bottle. Not sure Perkins or Kelvin have got it.
That's fine, as long as he's told to stop central and get a foot in, then give the ball to a footballer. Do what he can. Not what he thinks he now can, or what the manager wishes he could do.
Maybe we've read the implication differently then. I thought it implied that all midfielders should score goals and by extension the three midfielders cited are *****. I see it could be interpreted as meaning the three playing together. I suppose it all hinges on whether 'players' in the following quote meant singular, plural or collective: 'When did it become acceptable for midfield players to contribute so little towards the goals for column? People will probably try and defend them by saying they bring other things to the team or it's not their job to score goals - which would be complete ********.' I imagine the implication from Conan was both given his view of the three players in question!
It just isn't viable to play more than one player who adds zero in the attacking sense. I have no qualms with any of our three DM each have faults and merits if I had to chose one it would be Kelvin but I would also be telling him to work on the more creative aspects of the fame and become more box to box to make the most of his athleticism.
It was a bit of both to be fair. I believe very strongly that there is room for only one of those players in the first 11 (Etuhu) but I was also lamenting the loss of the classic English box to box midfielder. A dying (dead?) breed sadly.
