People suggesting new midfields minus Dawson and sometimes Perkins, but with Etuhu in it.

I'm interested to know why as he doesn't seem to do an awful lot to me.

Was completely ineffectual v Watford, barely made a tackle. He offers nothing going forward despite the fact he used be a striker/winger.

He was at fault for goal at Bournemouth, got turned inside out too easily.

Anyone care to explain why he's better than Dawson and Perkins?

Yes he had a few decent games, a couple of very good ones, but what has he done this season? Dawson has had excellent spells in the past.

I'm interested in this season, and for my money he's been rubbish.

He made several crucial tackles during the Watford game

what has anyone done this season? last year he was colossal for us. he hasn't turned into a bad player overnight. the whole squad is in disarray, with bizarre formations, players being played in crazy positions and inexplicable squad rotation.

we should have been played a settled middle three, with kelvin at the heart of it. instead, we're playing....well, i don't know what we're playing. but i imagine poor old kelvin is just as confused as all of us

Most said when Etuhu got back in the side then we would see a difference, but then that gets said about anybody art injured, Crainie worranother, Ramage will sort out the defence it keeps going on and on.

At least half a dozen includingbone where he nicked orca player as he was just about to take a shot. Granted in that case it was his woeful pass gave them the ball to start with

I was just playing devil's advocate here in a way, as Dawson seems to have got a huge amount of stick, yet Etuhu seems to have escaped unscathed. At least Dawson always tries hard every game, and he was out of position on Saturday, yet Etuhu let the game pass him by. There always seems to be a scapegoat...

I've never understood it. A blocker. A stopper & in good form when he came in to the side last season but everyone was.

The most limited out of Dawson/Perkins and himself.

To be honest if given the choice none of the 3 would be in the starting 11. Etuhu in good form demonstrated greater potential than the other 2 but at the minute is no better than either.

He's not been at his best this season but then nobody has.

He tackles really well and no surprise with the size of him, he's got more height, presence and much more pace than Perks or Daws. I think he works equally as hard and when he does make a mistake, he makes sure he makes up for it - usually by tracking back and putting in a great slide tackle. I saw this a number of times against Watford and in every other game he's played. His attacking play is usually quite poor, he struggles to link up and create but that's not his job really. He's a defensive/holding midfielder these days and so long as he keeps the ball moving, I think he's done his job from an offensive point of view. We can't expect players at this level to be good at everything, otherwise they'd be playing in the Premier League.

I think he's a great player for us and offers something different to Perks or Daws, which is probably why people tend to name him in their team before them.

If trying hard was the benchmark we'd all be professional footballers.

Dawson and Perkins are two of the least talented players to wear a Barnsley shirt at this level.

Etuhu plays the holding midfielder "all day long" for me.
Put Digby at the side of him and we've got a great central midfield partnership.

Etuhu is the stopper who breaks play and makes short pass........Digby can play football and pass short/long.

    Good partnership for me.

I think they're similar but each offer something slightly different so it could work but right now? I'm not sure, perhaps too early to try it. Diggers needs to get some game time 'under his belt'.
