    "Watford are incredible,I'm not going to achieve those standards at barnsley". What a fecking statement you moron. This is championship standard and if you can't live with that then p##s off to Rochdale where you may just be able to reach a level of standard accustomed to their league. Let's all just pack up and give in because we are not worthy of a place in this league. Unbelievable.

    no its not "unbelievable" nor is flicker a "moron"

    he said a team was better than us. the league tables over the last 7 years backs that up. get over yourself

    on any particular day we may beat watford. im sure flicker thinks that too

    But he said "I'm never going to achieve that standard", which is defeatist, when a better statement would have been "that is the standard we have to aspire to". We might not achieve it but we have to at least try.

    No he didn't just say Watford were better than us he said I'm not going to reach those standards at barnsley. Why not? Was he saying that a few months ago when we beat them at home. I can accept teams are better than us without a shadow of a doubt but to say we're never going to be up to standard is throwing the towel in. How do you know he's not a moron know him personally do you.

    Without big investment were not going to get to the level of challenging for automatic promotion so I'd say he's right.

    Poor way to say it but there we go. I'm sure he aspires to be like that.

    you called him a moron. then asked me how do i know he is not. irony hey....

    as for your statement above, he isn't throwing the towel in, he will continue to, as every manager we have ever had bar spackman, to improve the team if he can. Either by buying better players or coaching the ones he has to do better.If he can't then the board will try to get lucky and find someone who can.

    Contrary to popular opinion on here we don't actually set out to lose games every week.

    Made myself look silly why is that then. I was merely pointing out the defeatist attitude bouncing around oakwell. What chance have the players got when they read that they won't get to that standard. If I've made myself look silly then what about the hundreds on here that at the start of the season actually thought we would be challenging for promotion. Was you one of them? Do you think we reached that level of standard after Christmas last season? I do, so why can't we reach it now with the same players and supposedly better players added, why all of a sudden as attitude changed.

    Unfortunately Flicker is sounding like Keith ,its the sort of thing Hill was saying from day one and particularly after a defeat. Its one thing for a manager to say that to his board privately but to publicly say we will never have a side that is as good as as Watfords is defeatist and its saying to your players 'you aren't as good as them and never will be', hardly motivational......special to failures in 3 months

    Personally I believe we should be able to compete with clubs the size of Watford. If he'd said we couldn't compete with Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal etc he may have had a point. However, I've not read the article in question so difficult to comment further.

    I also think we had a squad good enough to compete last Saturday, if the players had been in their correct positions and playing to their normal level of ability. They weren't and they didn't. And some of them were sitting in the stand instead of contributing on the pitch.

    possibly needs to be taken in context of the interview. i've never heard any negativity from flicker
