I'm normally optimistic about us but that was abysmal today, and for the first time in a long while I was embarrassed to watch that. Saw the line up beforehand and was excited by the attacking players, then he lined up with the most negative, defensive formation I've seen in a long time. It was 5-4-1, with a flat back 5, definitely not wing-backs. There was barely any attempt to attack, the only attack I can remember was the disallowed goal. We just hit the ball up to O'Grady who had no chance of doing anything with it, then it was left for Leicester to attack us again and again. We defended well first half but same old in the second, can't concentrate for long periods at all. Both goals came from the same area and it's probably no coincidence that Kennedy was playing left centre back. Thought Perkins was terrible once again, he only ever holds the position of CM even when there's danger on the left or right. McCourt looks an outstanding player, how he takes people on I have no idea but he's brilliant. No pace whatsoever but he's so clever with the ball. M'Voto was terrific also, won everything and looked much better as part of a 3 as he can sit in the middle and clean up. Wiseman's still *****, he just doesn't have a football brain for me. First half Nugent was in the box with the ball, but he continued to mark his own man and leave him to have a shot until M'Voto blocked. The defence are just not aware of the danger areas whatsoever. Blame lies with Flitcroft again though, negative until we were 2-0 then we looked quality for 20 minutes and I thought we were going to get another. Why it takes until 2 down to get them playing I don't know.
I think setting up with 5 at the back and 2 defensive/combatitive midfielders in front of them is a bit like Flicker handing Pearson an invite with 'attack us' written all over it.
Thanks for that sounds like it was a frustrating game! Sky commentator said Leicester were ripping us a new arse hole int first. Last 20 he did say we improved! I hope he gets it right on Tuesday!
Correct, and they did although not that successfully but give them enough chances and they'll score enough eventually.
Hmm, wouldn't ever say they ripped us apart at all. They weren't particularly good to be honest, they had plenty of shots but most were from outside the box or snapshots.
It's amazing how flitcroft and rest of management team can't realise that it's there defensive tactics and not pressing opposition what's losing us the games
Seems that way. Unless we sign a team of 8ft+ human beings and line them up across our goal line for away games. Tell them to stick tight together with no gaps etc. Give the opposition 90 minutes of hitting the ball at them. That would be 23 points gained away from home. For home games we would play normally (with footballers etc) and try to build on the away point that the 8ft team earned.
Wish somebody would just av a quiet word with flicker and just say , let's go back to last years tactics and pressing play and attack .
Agreed pal. I'm desperate for him to succeed and hope he's given the time to do so. I still believe he'll sort it but he's got to get some points soon cos the pressure is building.
After 9 games you would expect the management team to realise its there fault we are losing , there tactics seem to be hang out for a nil nil, and it ain't working . Costs a lot to go to away matches and we just want to see them having a go
No worries I just say what I see. Just read it back though and I've put we only had one attack that I remember, that's in the first half. We obviously attacked at the end.
Just reading wiseman s goal was onside and McCourt could and should av scored in first half but them was the only two attacks in 1st half
Didn`t Jennings have a wild shot after changing his booits and Leicester commentators reckon McCourt should have scored, both int first haif.
Can't even remember the McCourt chance, must have dozed off. Remember Jennings hitting one from about 25 yards, was about the only player we had in their half so didn't really class it as an attack.
To be fair the commentators weren`t the best but they reckon McCourt went past 2 men and struck it with left foot. Either that or I were dreaming.
Yep McCourt went past two or three and shot straight at keeper , he goes past people easy , be nice to see McCourt on Tuesday starting again with two up front too
