With the way they play, I would go with a 4-4-2 against them. Butland Wiseman Cranie Ramage (if fit, if not M'Voto) Kennedy O'Brien Dawson McCourt Cywka O'Grady Scotland
Pick names out of a hat Your team looks okay to me. But I'd bet RNL is dropped, Mellis still not getting a look in, and Dawson's recalled. But according to YouTube I should be enthused because Paddy McCourt can take a man on. Bet he's dropped as well. Yours, A. Cynic.
Re: Pick names out of a hat It's the contrast between thinking we had a manager who understands our players, who keeps football simple and who recognises that hard work has to make up for a lack of money to the apparent realisation this season that he likes to put square pegs in round holes, he has different attitudes to different players , he seems to be scared of the job, and the answers all lie in signing more players. I genuinely hope he can sort it, but WTF was that starting line up and attitude on Saturday ? Wiseman's perfectly good goal getting chalked off notwithstanding. Fine margins and all that but I bet £20 to charity that other than say recalling Ramage for Kennedy there's a complete change in the team selection - we don't know if we're coming or going at the moment and it's down to the manager imho.
Re: Pick names out of a hat All fair criticism as far as I'm concerned. But I've known you well over 10 years and I don't think I've ever read you openly criticising our manager before, no matter how ***** they've been. You've always been Mr Patience. Even at our worst you've always defended the manager's decisions, or at the very least, defended his right to make those decisions how he sees fit. You've been a bit more critical in person like, but on here, any Barnsley manager over the last 15 years couldn't have asked for a better example of how a fan should back who is in charge of their club. I don't mean you've been their lacky, just really fair and balanced. Which all all makes me think, if you're growing so tired of Flicker, maybe I'm backing the wrong man.
Re: Pick names out of a hat Nah - my football judgement is as flawed as it's possible to be. I think it's the contrast that's done for me - it is impossible to go at a 46 game season as we did for 20 odd games last year - the players would be burnt out and we'd be picking injuries up left right and center, so I didn't expect a totally gung-ho approach. But neither did I expect so timid and inept an approach as we have had. Wigan, Watford, Southampton all carbon copy performances. He won't (or hasn't so far) given us any width to our play, he's treated Mellis and RNL absolutely disgustingly in my opinion whilst sticking with his favourites - now I totally get faith in the players that kept us up - but he HAS to get some quality on the park, even if that means sacrificing the 'running about' bit. Maybe Leicester signalled the start of this and I'm not smart enough to see it, but we seem disorganised and afraid to get amongst the opposition. The really galling thing for me is that against Huddersfield, for an hour or so at least we did just that - then he totally changes things because he's **** scared of the opposition. I'm not sure I want him out like, but I think 2 more defeats and that will happen irrespective.
Re: Pick names out of a hat Is it impossible though? Surely with a squad the size of ours plus youngsters it is entirely possible. Totally agree with you otherwise btw.
I think that'd be a good line up. Can't see Ramage being fit so just put M'Voto in there. It's a decent bench, I'd be tempted to put Jennings on there but after some comments on here about his performance against Leicester - maybe not. Etuhu is a good option to have from the bench as he could give us some more bite to the midfield should we need it.
Re: Pick names out of a hat I genuinely think the mentality and everything that went into stopping up by going **** or bust from Jan onwards couldn't be replicated across a full season - but dunno, he had a summer to prep for it so who knows ?
I'd go Butland Wiseman Mvoto Cranie OBrien RNL Perkins Fox MCourt Ogrady Pedersen(or Scotland if not fit)
