at risk of getting struck by lightning....for the first 60 he looked very very good. then he got tired and conceded possession far too often. beating 2 players is not much cop, if you lose the ball trying to beat the 3rd. i think flicker needs to use him wisely, until he's up to 90 minute match fitness

Absolutely superb, nice to see someone scaring the opposition instead of us being scared. They were petrified when he got the ball. He ran the entire game until they started kicking him in the second half and he tired. Midfield now looks as though it has a much better balance to it. Oh, and Dorothy had a much better game too.

My biggest worry is that teams will kick McCourt, like L***s did with Butterfield. Second biggest worry is that we will sell him in January.

    Superb performance tonight lads!

I don't think he'll ever be up to 90 minutes. He doesn't train hard enough, he smokes and drinks too much and generally can't be arsed.

I don't give a **** about any of that. To be honest, it probably makes me like him even more. If we can get 60 minutes out of him every week like the 60 minutes we got out of him tonight we'll blow teams away, see some fantastic football and be pretty happy people. After 60 minutes we bring Jennings or Cywka on and let them run at a defence that is struggling to breathe and utterly shell shocked after trying to keep tabs on McCourt.

Got to agree , second half he conceded possession too much . Fair play to the lad though he always wants the ball.

Great to watch a Barnsley player run at teams

McCourt gives us that out ball , he always wanted the ball, think they tried to double up on him 2 nd half too which leaves us more space . Nice to see a bit of optimism back with that performance

Yes I enjoyed watching the Derry Pele tonight. Thought he should have been taken off and RNL brought on towards the end when he got tired after Reading have him a shoeing because they couldn't stop him.

I think we could have pinched it if jennings had come on instead of dawson. We had them on the ropes and we went to look to protect a point rather than go for the kill. We were so much the better side i was a little disappointrd with the sub.

Oh well its a point and a good performance. It will do them the world of good and get some confidence. Get a point at qpr and then smash boro and the dee dars and it all looks a lot brighter. :)

I thought Reading were cynical today rather than outright dirty.

Couple that with a ref that couldn't handle their tactics, it meant players like McCourt got zero protection.

But boy did I enjoy watching the Derry Pele simply glide past the opposition.......great stuff to watch.

Reading knew he was our best player and did their best to injure him. It's a travesty he didn't get the MOTM award.

Jay, is McCourt really all those things or is it just wishful thinking that we've signed a 1970's bad boy with mercurial skills? Eg george best, Robin Friday, Rodney marsh all rolled into one. You make him sound like somebody out of Roy of rovers... I bet his mam chucks his old boots in the bin tomorrow and buys him some new ones.

Jay he doesn't smoke or drink. I work at the hotel wear he's staying. The only thing he ever drinks is cups of tea and bottled water. I can see why people would think he drinks as he has that look about him, however thats just because of his scruffy look and he also has quite a bad skin condition. But I can 100% say he is just as professional as any other of the top pro's.

There have been a few players who order drinks at the hotel bar (Trippier, O'Connor, Dickinson and many others) however McCourt never does.
