I know it's TK bashing season and I've joined in with that, but I thought he played well against Reading. Not that we shouldn't get a loan player in (I wouldn't, but I do think it's the one position where we're light) but I wouldn't instantly drop Kennedy if he put in some more performances like he did on Tuesday night.
Jay, thought TK defended better on Tues, but his decision making and crossing of the ball when in good positions, is terrible. It's not TK bashing season, it's simply football logic. Left back is an obvious position for improvement, and Flicker has clearly spotted this weakness (also suggests McNulty is finished at BFC, otherwise he may have been given a chance, but instead he's off to Tranmere).
He's been crap for most of the season, but I thought he did well on Tuesday. I'd give him another go in that formation.
Only reason TK wasn't as bad on Tuesday was that Reading didn't play someone wide on his side and run at him, he had the same cover infront - Mellis, maybe the knock on effect of someone like Fox sitting in the middle with a clue what to do helped team overall shape, but put him under pressure and he'll revert to the TK we all know and "love"......
I thought Kennedy was just as bad against Reading as he had been all season. Lost count of the number of crosses against us from that side because he had given their players too much space. Wiseman must have had to deal with 20 crosses, plus the ones that Butland fumbled. And when he had the ball going forward he kept stopping and thinking about what to do for a few minutes before passing the ball back to Rammage. I'd say that maybe he didn't have as many glaring errors that looked embarrassing for him like he has done every other game but he still had a poor game by anyone elses standards but that's just my opinion and it's not the first time that it's different to everyone elses is it. I'd also like to take this opportunity to say I was right, ner ner. At the beginning of the season I said that we had way too many strikers, too many midfielders and general defenders and was too short on capable cover at left back. As soon as anything happened to Golbourne we'd be screwed I said, forced to play the only proper left back at the club there whether he was on form or not. Everyone slated me for that saying we didn't have enough strikers and more than enough cover at left back. What happens? We bring in one extra striker resulting in Dagnall, Cofie and Rose disappearing and getting paid for nothing and the other players capable of that position, RNL and Jennings being surplus to requirements most of the time and Clarke going out on loan. At left back what have we got? Just Tom Kennedy and the only other possible option being RNL who the manager often criticises and blames for his defensive abilities. Flitcroft in my opinion signed players in completely the wrong positions this season giving us the most unbalanced squad in the history of football. 500 players for certain positions and Tom Kennedy for others. ps, the 'I was right' part was tongue in cheek. I just felt like saying Flitcroft spent money badly which we all knew anyway. pps, Should I have a friday night chinese? ppps, Somebody is knocking on my front door
Can't recall the cross Mario.....can't have been a good one as it ended up at COG's feet who had to turn 90 degrees and shoot from 16 yards. COG made the goal himself, from what I remember?
Kennedy is quite good with the ball. He's often the outlet up to O'Grady on the left. Usually our way of getting it up the field. Accurate left foot. Comfortable on the ball. Just the one foot..... Without the ball he struggles. I can't forget his lunacy during one Southampton attack recently. He does not defend well.
Which goal? It came from the right didn't it? I have only seen it live so could be wrong. **** memory as you know.
