That's the Butterfield I remember. Wish we still had him. Him and McCourt in the same team, that I would like to see.

My mums fella is a boro st holder.

He text me during the game yesterday to inform me buttercup had scored and was absolutely bossing Yeovil.

He rates him. As do I.

Great to read that. To me that's a real two fingers up to a lot of the doubters of him on here. I know there are a lot of reds fans that did want him to succeed at Norwich, and that has continued onto his move to Boro (just hopefully not at our expense). I still think he is the finest prospect that the club has brought through in many a year.

Might be the guy to save Mowbray's job?

Very good signing for Boro, he will be the player to watch out for in a couple of weeks. Proving that he is a quality player in this division.

    Fox v Butterfield

OK, I haven't seen much of Fox yet and hopefully he will improve

But on Youtube evidence I'd go with Butterfield everytime..............Butterfield has the passing power of Fox plus Buttertfield can get forward and score goals..........Fox dosen't

They say never go back................but we should 'if possible' have had Hammill and Butterfield signed back at the club for the start of this season
It would have made a huge difference to where we stand in the league now

He brought the best out of t'other Jacob too. That was a right partnership while it lasted. I hope the reception Butterfield gets at Oakwell isn't too nasty.

I certainly won't boo him. Decent player who tried to move on to better things.

He will definitely get booed. Good 6 months but jumped ship at the first chance. Didn't learn from the Howard, Bogdanovic and Hammill scenarios.

    Tin hats as the ready....

Oh he'll get booed. The mindless chav element of our 'support' boo anybody who leave us to further their careers. Adam Hammill bizarrely got it again t'other week. No idea why. I thought Adam gave his all for the club whilst here. Unless we boo every player who leaves for a Premier League club? I mean, will John Stones get the same treatment?

    It's pathetic.

The likes of Bogdanovic/Shackell etc, I sort of understand. But young lads who spent their formative years here? Lads who do nothing but speak about our club in glowing terms?

As I say, pathetic. And does nothing to affect that player when on the pitch. Not adversely anyway.

It would be nice to see us either give Jacob a decent reception, or just plain ignore him. I think Flicker would agree. He certainly wouldn't want our fans booing the likes of Stones and Butterfield. Players he loved.

Good to see him finally getting a run of games again, and beginning to show why we rated him so highly. It's amazing how not playing for a year affects peoples memories.

Good luck to him, but I hope he has a stinker against us.

Gets put through the academy and given his shot in the first team just to leave the club that shaped him 6 months after he starts playing well for peanuts. What a hero. Still, as long as he is nice about us..

I would never boo one of our ex-players but I can sorta understand why some of them are.

Shackell - Only stayed for one season. Perhaps a bit of bitterness involved here as, for me, he lines up alongside Cranie as the best centre-half we've had over the last few years. Also his treatment of young Danny Rose was not called for in one of our matches when we played against him.

Hammill - I don't think there was a big problem with him leaving, in fact I, like many probably, spent the next weeks after his departure constantly looking out for him on MOTD. I think the issue is that he later joined one of our local rivals (managed by Robins incidentally) and not us, when he quite possibly could have. Also, I think the boos were slightly playful and perhaps again fuelled by bitterness as he's clearly a fantastic player at this level.

Butterfield - Will almost certainly get booed if Hammill did. Jumped at the first opportunity (when he'd have been better off staying) and has had numerous opportunities to return to us on loan whilst at Norwich. Again didn't join us in the summer.

Boggy - Joined perhaps our most fiercest local rivals. Completely understandable why he was booed. Again, I didn't boo but I certainly took my opportunity to laugh at him.

Stones - Will definitely not get booed imo - provided he comes back as an Everton player. He's 'one of our own' after all. However, should he fail at Everton and end up dropping back to the Championship and chooses to go to Wednesday or Leeds instead of us then I expect he definitely will, a la. Hammill / Butterfield.

I think a lot of it has to do with money. That's why players leave and some of our fans see that as greedy and they're probably right in a way. I mean, when has 3K a week not been enough? But really, players, like anyone, just want to progress their career and especially if it means an opportunity to play in the PL, they'll take it. So again, they shouldn't get booed (because I think a lot of us would make the same decisions they have) but I can understand why they are.

    Aye, greedy little fcuker.
Should have accepted BFC's 12 month deal on 3k a week instead of the 4 year deal on 4 times the money at a Premier League club. Course. The idiot.
    .
And he should have made Flicker sign him, before Boro took him. Bloody idiot. Not managing to convince Flicker to actually bid for him. The horrible basterd.
Guna boo him for ages, me. Reight fan.
