Matt Murray will be hosting 'an evening with' Darren Sheridan and John Hendrie at The Lamproom in the new year. January at a guess. Should be a cracker of an evening with two legends of our promotion squad and two proper characters. Can't wait. Anybody else up for it?
Aaah. Might be unlucky then, mate. Think it's going to be late Jan, but nowt official just yet. A few pints, and some great memories and stories from two of my heroes. Still think a Donovan and Flynn evening would be better, mind.
I've seen them both before at the old supporters meeting at Ardsley House and Oakwell. Comedy duo! Funny as fook old school stories. I'll be a deffo.
You jest but it might actually be quite good as he played for us during an interesting period. Nothing against Shez and Hendrie who are two of our legends, but I can't imagine people would be told much they don't already know. Our premiership squad players have told stories of that era many times over.
I agree. He's been very honest with his answers I must say. Like you say it was an interesting time, well off the pitch at least!
I don't want to sound unappreciative of our greatest ever time. But I do wonder how much would be said that we don't already know. Many books, evenings with, interviews etc have been done of our promotion/premiership seasons. We know the players loved Wilson, nobody thought we would go up, with had great team spirit, Shez was a joker etc. Alot of what's said will be recycled. There should be evenings with from players of other eras. How about Kevin Miller about getting player of the year during our admin season? Paul Reid about captaining us back to this league? Simon Davey about our cup run? Or we could go more old school with guys like Owen Archdeacon and Brendan O Connell talking about the early 1990s.
Ok mate cheers anyway. I'm off uni until 2nd week in January usually but will be going back for exams for the latter half.
Bet Martin Devaney would be a decent un. Promotion, cup run, those 2 crosses, battling relegation. Played under Ritchie, Davey and Robins too.
Have we had one with Ronnie glavin would love to hear about the Clarke/hunter era and the gudjon saga
