Yes, 1977 at Filey. Played in a 5-a-side tournament which we won and were presented trophy by Paul Reaney (Leeds Utd). My brother and Dad came 2nd in Father & Son
I knew I'd get some useful answers on here, thanks lads. Setting off in 1 hour to Skeggy, returning Monday lunchtime. Someone told me there's a programme of fitness training, dietary advice with practical taster sessions, music appreciation courses with audience participation, and ample refreshments. Oh, and there's no females to distract us from our educational sessions.
A friend of mine went on one A few years ago. Apparently, everyone had to wear '70's clothes for the entire weekend. The bubble perm curly wigs, Elton John-style sunglasses, shoes, clothes et al could be hired on the camp site once you'd booked in. Him and his family had a great time. Hope you do, too, mate.
Re: A friend of mine went on one Fancy Dress on Sat night only for us. Think there may be beer involved but not sure.
Agreed, full o'slags. Even my mate who you could tie some pork chops round is neck and dog still wouldn't laik wi' him managed to get summat, and he was in fancy dress.
Went on an 80's one at skeggy in May, lots of beer and fat slags in fancy dress sums it up, though I did get to take some interesting photographs of some cute young ladies in hot pants doing unmentionable things.
Butlins. Been on a family weekend there a few times. Usually at 10am you will find people sitting around drinking Stella. It goes downhill after lunch. Assuming it is a kids free weekend throughout the site, you can expect it to be about 10 times worse. Just hope you've opted for something more than "standard" accommodation. (I think they omitted the word "sub"). I'm sure you'll enjoy it though. Have you packed disinfectant, I wonder? Good luck.
